Wow, (ophiura) when I saw your name on my post, I thought I was going to get nuked
Thanks, figured he would be a good addition to the tank

This is Ophiomastix annulosa and is one of my favorites in the hobby. Unfortunately I rarely see mine. It is primarily a filter feeder, in my tank. But I will warn you I have heard it to be aggressive now and then. I don't know how much I believe it  but I think it is a beautiful animal

I've had this one for about a week, he kinda camps out in the right hand corner of the tank, but he's always out and about. Can you spot feed them?

you should believe it... my lfs kept like... 2-3 brittles in a 15, just a sale tank, and they fed them damsels. they put a baby bursa trigger (1 inch)
in because they thought it'd be fine. the trigger killed one, and then another brittle killed it.
to eat the damsels they stick out one of their tentacle in a loop, and a damsel'll swim through it, and the brittle squeezes when it goes through.

What color are they?
I kept 5 in a 15g tank with a damsel...including 3 greens. Know what?
Nothing happened.
But it could have happened. The green brittlestar is a known predator. I don't deny that.
But how much did you see, how much did they say? Did they actually sacrifice livestock they could sell to these stars? Or were they a bit dodgy?

they were a musty greenish brown, and yes, they fed livestock. they found this place that sells fish in california (we're in ohio), that sells fish rediculously cheap. i think he said he only payes like... 0.31$ a damsel. and i saw the brittles (which climb into the filter) stick a tentacle in a loop and wait for damsels go though, never saw it catch one, but once i saw it with the damsel wrapped up, and the brittle was half over it eating it, while the damsel was having like... convulsions? (don't know if its spelled right), the damsel just kept shaking rapidly.
and i saw the bursa rip apart a brittle, but didn't see the brittle kill the bursa, they said it happened over night...

I have had a brittle star for 2-3 years now and he is HUGE...probably 18 inches from tip to tip, and he has become a bit more aggressive as he gets bigger, but not at other fish just jumps to be first in line to eat. he is really cool to watch when he eats...loves the mysis
