Yesterday I walked into work and saw this guy sitting there and I've always wanted an angler so I decided to buy him, cost me only $32 which is a great price for a 6in yellow angler. My guess is that he's either antennarius maculatus or antennarius pictus but I came to the conclusion that he's pictus because of his overall size, almost twice of what maculatus could be. I haven't fed him yet and I don't plan to feed him live fish so I'm going to do what I did with my dwarf lion, fishing line and a silver side. Don't know what to name him yet. Its pretty funny when I first put him in after a 3 hour drip acclimation and he sat there all night into mid day and I finally had to poke him to move so the small patch of cyanobacterial doesn't grow over him, it already was growing on one of his little fins/feet.
So, I present at last, my dream fish...

Damn cyano!

Looking at the esca and illium, it looks like it might be an Antennarius commerson.

I wish it was a Warty but a commerson or painted is cool too. I tried to get him to eat today but he wouldn't so I'll try again tomorrow. If he really becomes a pain at training then I might have to give in and buy some damsels (or is there a better choice for food?) for now so he doesn't starve. I did a water test just now and everything is cool except for nitrates which are at 15ppm; I'll double check parameters again next time I go to work. I was planning on a water change tomorrow anyway. I think I'll keep like 4 damsels in one of those plastic fish breeders that float in the tank. One or two released a week to meet their doom. AW2 I've read numerous posts by you, you don't keep anglers now? How much did you get that warty for?

Sorry for getting back to this so late...I just saw that you had posted again.
I dont keep anglers, currently, no. In the past I've kept many different species. I do have an empty 210gal. tank, that's separated into 4 different compartments. I plan to set that up and keep 4 different anglers (one of each of my fav species) in each compartment.
The Yellow warty, that you'll see in some of my pics was given to me by a friend. He bought it in a LFS, in Chicago, and I believe he paid $230 for it. It's difficult to find healthy anglers and Wartys are always unGodly expensive.
