whackamole,
I definately have to agree with you that the colors are awesome!! I've never seen any colored like these. As I said in my original post, I've been looking at the more pastel colored candy canes...I think these are great though...Beth did good!!! Hmmm...the pastel colored canes are not completely out of the question though

Thanks NM, coming from you that's quite a compliment.

Hey puffer, wow!! That's really a nice looking coral. Aren't they the coolest?
Thanks Mr. Guitar...I'm really enjoying them. I've had to move them from the spot they were in in these pics, but they didn't seem to mind.
Does anyone know how these particular corals grow? Do they split, grow new branches??
Thanks again everybody.

I was wondering about their growth also, and hoping I have mine placed correctly in the tank. They are mid tank under T5's. I wish my pic came out as well as yours Lisa, I have taken several pics and the coloring is all wrong, maybe i will try again when my lights dim for the night.

Wow, I would snag some of those if my store ever got some in of that color. I have some neon trumpet coral but have room for some like yours. Pics are very nice too!

Thanks very much mrdc...I appreciate it.
I'm really enjoying my candy cane, as well as all of my corals...my daughter says my tank is looking very reefy. I'm working on a minor problem with my bubble coral, but hopefully I have that taken of. I accidently nudged a rock when I cleaned my tank last week and one of the heads ended up under a huge fuzzy mushroom...no light. I just readjusted him again, and he looks better already!!
So anywho...anyone know how these types of corals grow? I'm interested not only for my candy canes, but also for my bubbles...do you think I should start another thread? Maybe I'll wait this thread out and see if someone can help.
Keep watching this thread Puffer, hopefully someone will know... ***)

That's what's kinda weird...I bought my frogspawn with only 3 heads on it, probably the size of a baseball...last count after lights out, there are 11 heads. I NEVER knew it happened except to see that it was getting bigger and bigger...it's now slightly smaller than a football. The pic that I'm posting is an old one from at least 8-10 months ago. My frogspawn now almost drapes the rock beneath it...it looks very cool!!
Are there signs that I can watch for with these guys (candy cane and bubble)? New growth, heads splitting? I just want to know what to expect.
Thanks again!!

Awesome frogspawn!!! You can tell when the coral is gonna split when you notice like a "dent" mark on the head. You can see that better when the lights are off on the tank or when they first turn on...when the coral is still "in". Very similar to the frogspawns reproduction. They just branch off. Hope this helps becuase it's a little hard to describe in words. haha. Oh yeah...What size tank do you have?

Thanks again Mr. Guitar,
I'll definitely be watching for signs on my bubble and candy canes...they're both pretty new to my tank, so I'm not expecting much real soon...but I can dream. BTW, my bubble coral is doing MUCH better today.
My frogspawn is awesome, thank you. That was a piece of coral I went looking for and when I saw it I said to those with me, "That's the one". I really love it.
My tank is only a 37gal...small, I know but I'm working with space constraints. I have my eye on a sweet little 46gal bow front, but I'm really not sure that moving my reef would be worth the stress on all of us. If I would happen to do that, my 37gal is SO going to be a seahorse/pipefish tank!
again, maybe just dreaming...

Your welcome, Lisa!!! Moving from tank to tank is a lot of work but well worth it in the long run. At first we had a fish only tank then we decided, a year later, to switch from a 30 to a 55 gallon reef. Man was that a lot of work!!! Our 30 gallon tank was upstairs and our 55 gallon was downstairs. So lets just say it was fun cartin' live rock, fish, and water from the 30 gallon in the 55.
My dad bought a cool lookin' frogspawn about a month ago. It use to have 6 heads but our salt level was to high and one of the heads died.
I didn't care to much about it becuase it was sooo cheap!!! hahaha.
I think you should go with the 46 gallon! That way you can add more corals. Then you could go with seahorses in your other tank. That would be awesome.

Thanks very much My Way.
Actually, I do have some full tank pics...but somehow they just don't turn out the way I see it. Or, at least, I'm much more impressed and proud of the way it looks in person than when I see the full shot pics. I will post a full tank pic that had to be taken at an angle because of light reflection in the room...not my fav pic. I do, however, have a couple of pics that I can post. First one is the left side, second right side, and third left side again (with the flash this time) with my Royal Gramma (Prince William) peeking out from his cave.
Thanks for asking...here goes.

Mr. Guitar,
Thanks again.
My biggest concern with moving my 37gal to the 46bow is that I would have to place the new tank in the same spot as my 37gal...not exactly sure how I would go about doing that...hmmm...
I'll definitely be looking for suggestions regarding a move like that before I buy anything.
Suggestions definitely welcomed!!

Here's what we originally did to move our tanks. We were gonna put our 55 in the same spot as our 30 but once we saw the tank start to lean we didn't go with that plan. Before that we drained most of the water out of our 30. Then I got all the rock out of the tank and put it in a bucket with the aquarium water. Then my dad and I picked the tank up and moved it into our dining room. If you have a wood floor you might want to use those sliding pad things...they work really well. You might want to temporarily give someone you trust your corals until you have your 37 gallon up runnin again.
Forgot to mention...Cool pictures of your tank!!!
