they are indeed cool. There a shop here that sells Chambered Nautalis along with Cuttles every year. I know I shouldnt pass judgement from one living thing to another having more reason or right to be left alone. But in my logic I just see it a bit different since you can offer a royal gramma a pretty snazzy condo in your home reef. A chambered Nautalis or Cuttle I think ANY tank is too small and normal life exectancy is a fantasy comparing tank vrs nature with those species. Boy Im opinionated this morning.....glad your not going to try a home tank with a Cuttle

Many species of different sizes and range, some found in tropical reef areas. Google Sepia sp.. Metasepia pfefferi is an intresting one. It only gets a few inches and mostly walks on the bottom.

I love cuttlefish!! When I lived in Galveston, I did some volunteer work for one of my classes at a cephalopod lab. I got to feed some cuttlefish! It was awesome! They grabbed shrimp right from my hand...very cool!! :jumping:

I just read an artical about them in my Evolution class saying they live in tropical and temperate oceans. It also said that they live very short lives(18 months I think) so keeping one would be a bad idea based on that. I thought it was a great article it was called "Cuttlefish say it with skin" in the scientific journal called Natural History. They are amazing creatures, some of the pictures in that article would blow your mind and there were more in the actual magazine that were amazing.

We were snorkeling off of Club Med in Cancun a couple years back and encountered a friendly little trio of cuttlefish. They were just fantastic -- don't know if we were more fascinated by them, or the other way around. Watching them flash and turn colors is sort of like gazing up at Fremont Street in Vegas. They almost give the appearance of lighting up. Hypnotically cool little critters.

I saw a show the other day on National Geographic (I think), and they really are cool. My favorite was the flamboyant cuttlefish, check them out on yahoo or something they look like rhinosoraus beetles, and they usually just walk, can't swim well...
