My new hanging lights..

I know it’s not rocket science but as an older person who has trouble lifting on things, there is some concern as to how long I can maintain my own tank. When I can no longer maintain it I will have to get rid of it, my mom certainly can’t do it and I can’t afford to let another person do it.. I am not that disabled yet….may I never be.
As the title says… I have a friend who hung my MH lights on pulleys. Now instead of trying to lift the lights off the tank when I do my water changes, I can raise them up and out of the way. They have an easy clip release on them, that way if I want to remove the lights for some reason, I won't have to disturb the pulley system. Then just click it back up when I am ready.

Cool! Mine are a metal wire deal that I dont care for. They hang ok but the wire gets hot and theres a lot extra coiled up on top of the light. Id like to come up with a pully ratchet system of some sort. I like yours

Great idea Flower.....I am far from old
and nowhere near disabled, but I can not get my lights down from the 225G w/o the help of my husband. I have said this to many people....If I did not have him, I would have to get rid of the 225G....I can't reach a over 50% of the stuff inside
THANKS HONEY

p.s....he is not...nor will he ever be on SWF.com heehee

Well I did a water change today, first time using my new pulley system, all by myself. I tied a knot on the outside area so I could have a better grip, and it worked GREAT! No struggle and no problems. I pulled them all the way up and out of my way. I fragged some corals, and did my water change..rearranged some rock all hassle free. I didn’t even unplug the lights, just turned them off.
Handbanana: The nylon rope stays nice and cool and it is very strong. My friend told me I could use a black rope, but my ceiling is white and my walls are a light tan, I thought the white rope looked best. I was going to go with cable first, just so I could hang them but then I couldn't have the pulleys...I opted for the rope and pulley system, and I'm glad now that I did.
