My new reef

Ok so I've been looking into moving my 10g "reef" up into a bigger tank 32g ish. Its basically half of a 65, 24x18x18. I ordered a lot of stuff for it over the past 2 weeks- sundial T5 4x24 with moon and timers, CPR hob fuge with light and skimmer, 2 koralia 2's,2 viaAqua titanium 150w heaters. Well I have 85% of everything came today. Missing 1 heater & light fixture.
So I asked question on here if it mattered if my light was not here yet while I cycled tank, a few people said it shouldn't. My lfs said same so I came home with 25lbs of live rock, 60lbs argonite sand, And for good messure 10lbs of live sand, 15 Tangs and 2 sharks JK. make sure you are still with me.
I have no cuc yet. going to wait about a week if light comes in by then. For now I have a cheep floresent with a full spectrum fresh water plant bulb on it. dont know if that will help anything or not.
Just turned around to look at tank and it looks like my skimmer cup is already a quarter full maybe I should remove it until everthing settles a little.
So if anyone has any input I would greatly appreicate it. And I am going to keep this thread going with pictures and updates. Everyone has been great these last two weeks since I've gotten the ba--s to start asking dumb questions. no batteries in camera
oh well charge 'em now, take pictures when dust settles a little.
Forgot one thing, is it more important to have the requsit 2lbs/gal or just better surface area? The 25lbs I have is full of holes, branches and such.

I would run it with no light rather than this bulb. I know you are changing it soon, but nuisance algae can spring up fast.

Are you talking about LR per gallon? If you are the more the better, of course you want to still "see inside" the tank
I ahve 24lbs in my 24gal jbj and I ahve been told that was good. I looked at you'r profile and clicked on "all threads started by iyachtuxivm" and thats how I found you'r thread, now I will save it to my fav's so I can checkout you'r progress! I have noticed iif you post allot of pic's more people will leave comments

Ok so I tested the water for the first time tonight.
SG 1.024
PH 8.0 kinda low
Ammonia 0.25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 5.0
Water as still kinda cloudy from the sand. Was going to post pictures but its late and I need to get up early. Maybe tomorrow. Not sure why the PH is so low. Im using aragonite sand, with the refugium and tank about 40lbs total. May have to get a stablizer or some other chem to raise it. I still dont have my light yet, so ill just wait to see if it comes up a little. Maybe seeing a start of the cycle with the readings ill check again tomorrow.

Also tested again and here are the results
Ammonia 0
PH 8.0
Nitrite 0
SG 1.025 Needed top off
Nitrate 5 ish
Still getting some microbubbles and a little turbulance bubbles from fuge. Going to try what cpr suggests turn outlet so its partially exposed from water. If anyone out there has any suggestions I would really apreciate it.

Things are looking good. I'm sure the fish in your 10 gallon are going to party when they get to move in.
Try using Kent Marine Superbuffer dkh to get your pH up, should be at 8.3. It will also raise your Alk and make your corals happy. I have a 125 and have to stay on top of my doses or my pH and Alk drop. Of course I have to add 2 gallons of RO/DI water every day for top-off.

Look forward to seeing it with you new lights.

lookes really good
my only suggestion is use small pieces of LR like you are doing, I got too carried away with the LR, trying to get the 1lb per gallon that I read you schould have. I did get 24lb's of LR and at 9.00 per lb it was expensive!! and it makes it hard to stack it and still have room for all the coral you want! maybe with the refug. you wont need as much LR. I also like the sand, I used crushed coral for mine , but I like the look of the sand better. So all in all I think I like you'r tank better than mine!!
keep up the good work and as always take allot of pictures, setting up the tank is the best part!!!!

Thanks for all the positive comments everyone. I had "words" with the guy I ordered my light from and cancelled the order. He said the company wasn't shipping anything right now (currant usa),so I called them they said "why would we not supply our products to stores for sale?". Further more they stated that they have many of these units in multiple warehouses. So I guess the guy I ordered from was just lazy. He hadent sent the other heater either. Kinda bad experiance over all. Wish SWF sold light fixtures. Current USA gave me some suppliers and I called one great to deal with, light will be here friday less expensive then other one too!

Did some more rock work, will add pics when dust settles. Got 2 new pieces of premium rock one had a serpent star in it very small, the other had a couple of those little white stars and quite a few copepods too! Im geeked
The serpent is white and black so I think its safe. Its very protective of its rock though!
It will likley get eaten by some thing though. Also added some macro to my fuge, and some tigger pods in preperation for the dragonet.

I like your new rock arrangement with the "horns" on either end! I'm sure it will be awesome when you stock it.

"Horns" didn't think of that. Does look like it though, im going to put zoas on the "horns". I want to put Favia on the ledge/shelf I think. Maybe some Acros on top,I saw someone selling "microacros" if there is such a thing.I put some Ricordea on the rock in the lower right, that will be my "mushroom rock".
