I have the same set up as the first pic. but what I did was place live rock in the first section instead of the bio balls. The center section I have live sand and my chaeto and THOUSANDS of pods and hundreds of micro star fish.

I haven't bought it myself, but there is a refuge algea package for sale on the same "big auction site". Including shipping it would be $25. Comes with a 3-4 in ball of Gracilaria and a baseball size Chaeto algea. This stuff would be perfect, but again, I haven't bought it directly but plan too. I also have been looking at that same refuge. Good to see it is popular and good.
