How was the background installed? Will the foam stuff have any effect on the water? Just a few questions..........

Well i cut the egg crate rather big so that i had to FORCE it into place. That way it would not float out or be able to move. BUT if you wanted you could spray right onto the glass or glue or caulk to egg crate to the back. Like a 100% pure silicone or rock glue. The foam has no effect on the water but should be cured for 2 to 4 days and then soaked in water for a few as well. The foam will retain some water but no big deal.

I am thinking about making one for my fw tank. Is this your first time using this background? And do you forsee any problems using for fw? Thanks............

This is the first time in my tank. My buddie did one is his and has not had any problems. My lfs makes these background and sells them so they are very safe. And fw should be just fine. I dont see that making any difference

I would add cured rock now. Something Fishy sells both cured and uncured rock, I would pick up at least 30 pounds of precured rock.

Once the product is a solid everything changes. But at any rate alot of people do it. Even our lfs in there 300 gallon and it looks great. Ive also heard its very big in Europe. Also a big big plus i didnt have to disturb or destroy any natural reef out there just for my selfish amusment.

Hey everyone I wanted to give you guys and gals an update since some of you were very worried. Also thank you to all of you that helped me out with my questions and silly mistakes

. So today I woke up and turned on my lights and took a road trip to new york and when I came back I was very happy to notice that everything in my tank is florising very nicely. My mushroom coral has almost doubled in size... And my chile Coral is very very happy and I have been doing some spot feeding at night. (alothough after I spot feed him much of the live stock in my tank is attrackted to him since he does not eat it all and they climb on it to eat the left overs... Is this ok
???) Also the coral up on the top right ledge has gotten much bigger and is hanging a little off the shelf lol. Im gonna have to find him a new place in the tank. All me levels are great and my fish are happy.
Thanks all and I will keep you posted as I am going to be adding more rock in the NEAR future and more live stock in a few weeks.
