Oh, I can't wait to see pictures!
Will this be your first build?

The biofilter is where the bacteria colonize, some people say that they will cause your nitrates to go up. Most bio media are excellent at removing ammonia and nitrites but do not remove nitrates. The reason for this is the bacteria that convert ammonia and nitrites live in an oxygen rich environment, the bacteria that convert nitrates grow in an oxygen deprived area such as the bottom of a deep sand bed. If you have a good amount of live rock and a light bio-load I would try running without it.

Will definately be my 1st build, but I have about 6 hours a day at work where I do nothing but surf the net... hoping I can find some good diy plans. I will definately post pics on the process if you guys want to see. I will probably start building the skimmer right after christmas, but won't be able to afford a pump for it for a month or so after that.

Hey Fishmamma,
If the skimmer you're getting is the same as mine, Odyssea Pro Pack, you're going to love it. Mine hasn't missed a beat since I put it in the tank in July. I've been very happy with it.

Should I do a Water change B4 adding the Skimmer? Any help would be great B4 I go off on my own and get it wrong. TY ahead of time.

Well it arrived today without any assembly info....not a thing to reference, photo or otherwise so I am a bit ticked at the seller. So much for "new in box". What powerhead did your scome with? Did you use it or use a different unit??
Hope you had a great Christmas Lisa!

My question to you is which jebo exactly are you having such good luck with? There are several to choose from and I want to check out the one that you have had such success with. My tank is 29 gallon so I don't need a lot.
Thanks for your thread and your time.
Happy Holidays everyone!!
It seems like people complain about Seaclones but I have one on one of my tanks and haven't had any problems with it at all.
Sure I have to adjust it every now and then but really it works well for me on one of my tanks.
What is the problem you are having? Maybe I can help ya.
