Yes it will vary depending on the load. I have mine set where the small bubble are just past the O ring. You need to keep an eye on it for the first couple of weeks. There is a break-in period where it will vary more than it will once its thru this period. Also you need to adjust it after water changes. If your getting more clear water than it is set too high. You should get a nice nasty dark yellow liquid that smells like sewage when set properly.

yeah this one is a triple pass red sea berlin clasic with turbo pump and i keep setting it to have a load of bubbles in the first two sections and not in the third like the book said but it keeps going back to just the first section and the other two are clear just wondering if i should keep adjusting it or not. It is going as u said with the dark yellow lquid. The other thing is the turbo pump is sitting behind all the lr and is a pain in the ass to get to and i was hopeing that it didnt have to be played with all the time. Its an all in one unit with limited room to run stuff in and out of and i dont have a sump tank. So i just run the pump behind the lr and have the skimmer on a shelf sitting behind the tank.

ok the tank is starting to grow blown algea all over the rock and sand now but im taking this as being normal. I have just put a timer onto the lights so i dont run them so long. Got them going starting at 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. Got them starting early so i can feed them before i leave for work in the morning. These tanks are so addictive. i have only got live rock in the tank at the moment but i can sit there for ages and look to see what is growing and moveing around in there lol.

Before i started this tank i told myself it will take time to go through the cycle and i will just add the live rock some coral and cleaner shrimp and then finally some fish in stages over a fair time line. Sounded good didnt it. Buy why is it so hard to keep to this. the cycle is on its way down and i am really wanting to go out and fill it up, having to hold myself back lol. looking at all of the tanks on here and then looking at mine makes it so hard. is adding coral like adding fish has to be done very slow or can i go and get a few to put in my tank. Wanting to go into the city soon and get some bits and pieces. The city is about 2 hours away so its hard to go there and just buy one or two things. ok thanks any info will help

Ok as I thought keeping a diary was not going to be easy. It’s been over 6 months since I started the tank. I have only added a few bits and pieces since my last post.
Just a few more corals pink and black cucumber and a fire shrimp (not cheap over here $180 AU) Work has slowed right down because of the drought so not a lot of extra cash.
Over the time the corals have grow and some have split and are quite a few new shoots and i am thinking that I might have to try and cut and spread them out a bit they seem to be crowding over each other but I have never cut corals before and not exactly sure on how to do it (so if anyone wants to share some helpful tips love to hear).
I am still only running the fluros and they seem to be working fine so not really planning on changing them just yet all the corals seem to be going good.
Over the time the tank seems to have settled in good there seems to be all sorts of weird and wonderful things in there. Have noticed a lot of snails which is good because I am still getting a lot of green algae growing as well as all sorts of different crabs (some very strange and fuzzy ones) slugs starfish another urchin (sort of dark purple with white bands around the base of the large spines) and a real lot of stuff that I have no idea on.
At night before I go of to bed after the light timer has been of for a while I get the torch out and see what other sorts of things are in there. There is always something new and different. I don’t know if it’s just me and I have gone mad or there are others that can just sit there for ages just looking to see what’s new.
At feeding time I also get the bristle worms coming out from the rocks there are two really big ones guessing about 8 inches long and look like serpents coming out from the rocks. Not sure if they should really be removed or not.
The fire shrimp has grow a lot since I bought it but I don’t really get to see it a lot u only really see the feelers poking out every now and again and u know where he is when u see the sailfin moving funny just inside of the rocks as he is getting picked. Do other people have a hard time seeing there shrimp.
I also now have a heap of cope pods in the tank and now im wanting to try and find a mandarin dragonet. I have been wanting one for ages but have been waiting for a good supply of pods and now they are there I just have to find the fish.
I really should try and get a few pick of all the weird and wonderful things in there. Ok then that’s enough dribble for now try and get some pics soon
