My newly cycled tank with it's first two inhabitants...

Well... it's finally cycled. Actually, it cycled almost two weeks ago. Did a 30% water change last weekend.
Here it is with my first two fish. They've been in there for a couple of days and seem to have adjusted pretty well.
As you can see a have a bit of diatom algae which I'm gonna buy a few snails for.

Did you buy your rock as base rock or live rock? I hate to say but it looks pretty barren. I would try and find a nice 3 or 4 lb piece that prefferably has been in a tank for a year or so and place it in yours. It should spread pretty quickly to the rock you have.

Bought the rock online... it looked much better out of the box but it's covered in sand from some adjustments I made after adding it.
Everytime I went to blow some off with a syringe or turkey baster (don't know if that's spelled correctly) the tank clouded up for a day or two, so I just gave up after a while, figuring livestock will slowly get the sand to come back down.
I plan on adding a few more nice pieces little by little. Keep in mind, about 30 lbs of that (almost the whole lower half) is base rock.

I gotcha. Its going to take a while for things to look "good" :) Try gently blowing off the sand in one spot every day. If you mass do it it just rearranges the sand in different spots.

That's what I was
trying! :)
Anyway, I lost patience and gave up on it... it'll all settle eventually.
Thanks Mel!

btw...Ocellaris are wonderful little fish. Clowns Rock!:D

That is one of the most rewarding parts of this hobby! Once every thing is set up and two months go by and you realize you've got all this awesome growth and your fish are happy.
Just wanted to chime in.
Cheers!

I'm a month behind you just added 45# of pre-cured LR,n havign same problem with sand settling, liked the suggestion from BDhough I will just pamper one rock a few times a day. A squirt here and there seems like it will work better.
Nice rock, I'm adding another 45#.
