No.......It doe snot normally turn colors when getting ready to molt. From what I learned and read it could be a fungal infection or parasite or its possible that its from water parameters not being suitable. Do you do water changes.......what is your alk levels.....Too high of alk can make themget black spots as can too low of insufficient minor elements like iodine, which is more than available if water changes are done.
There is not a whole lot of printed info on problems with shrimp as compared to corals and fishes, but the local LFS here has told me its typical for shrimp when parameters are not right. I trust my LFS as he has been in nothing but saltwater tanks for over 35 years and has a well established reputation for knowing his stuff.
