... well I know it the wild... when they do this it's because they want to move. they blow themselves you and then let the current take them away. they also do this to get sand off of them.... hope this helps

I heard they do that to get lots of water to get the food they need mine does it all the time and more so after I dose the tank with plankton etc.

They are typically irritated by something and this is their attempt at moving. Try helping it a little bit by moving it.

I really can't move it much, I don't have alot of bottom space in this tank.....so I hope he adjusts until I get my bigger tank.

hows it doing now?
I just got one also. Now what does it eat? I tried droping squid on its tenticals and nothing I also tried shrimp and mysis shrimp, the only thing it does is shrival up the tentical I dropped it on. I tried phytoplankton also, is that what your supposed to feed it.
Im getting worried dont know what to give it. I have powerful lights and the coral gets nice and big when there on.. Do plate corals live off the light also...

Feed phyto plankton and under good lighting you should be ok though I will say Ihave head they dont have a long life in tanks for what ever reason.Keep it on the sand bed too.

I have mine alittle off the sand, suggested by my lfs and its doing great! I accidently dropped a shrimp pellet on it afew weeks ago and he scooted it into his mouth, since then i give him a wide variety of meaty foods, just drop it as close to or on his mouth and he devoris it. He hasn't swelled up except alittle around the mouth after eating, here is a pic about 30 mins after he ate the shrimp pellet
