Tim,
I really cannot decide for you which way to go with: Hyposalinity or Copper Sulfate treatment. I read a lot about hyposalinity and IMO it's very clever way to treat. But...unfortunately i never tried it! 2 thing you need to treat with this method are good (probably expensive) hydrometer and patience.

Tim if I were you I would start hypo! If you treat with copper you will never be able to get it all out. You will never be able to keep any inverts or corals in there again. I have done hypo with great results. Take your LR out and put it in a Rubbermaid tub if you have to, with heat and some sort of water movement. If the ick has fallen off to reproduce they will come back with a vengeance.

hi guys,
don't worry i was never gonna treat it with copper in the tank, i guess the best test will be when i wake up tomorrow morning, 24 hours after i first spotted it, and see how thye are.
OK, so i'm left with a choice: shall i invest in a QT and treat my fish with a copper based medicine, or shall i take the hyposalinity route? The only problem being with that is that i don't have an accurate hydrometer to get it bang on 1.009 ppm. :(
SO what i'm thinking now is QT which is also a good idea for the future as well.
What do you guys think?
All the best,
Tim:cool:

Hi guys,
Well it is now the morning (middle of the night for you lot!) and it is much better than it was yesterday morning, the tang may have 3-4 spots on his fin (as oppossed to a lot yesterday), the clown may have 1 or 2 and the Gramma 1 or 2. They ate very well last night and seem good in themselves, I think the best thing to do would be to see if the ich comes back to them within 24 hours or so? I will try and get Garlic extreme in the meantime, is it worth treating the tank with RX-P anyway from Kent? Can this do anyharm (it is reef safe and there is a write-up on it on this site under medicines).
All the best,
Tim

Hi Tim,
i'm glad to hear that your fish is better now. Personally i wouldn't treat with RX-P. Try to keep you tank's conditions as stable as possible, feed with garlic soaked food and fish may recover from disease (or mey not, i cannot tell you for sure).
Again, in your situation i would isolate diseased fish in q-tank and treat. Ones you will have corals in your main tank and disease will outbreak again, it will be much more difficult to catch your fish.
Have a good one,
Barracuda.

Good morning Barracuda, knew I would see you before anyone else!! :D
Yes they look better and I am actively looking for a quaranteen tank, perhaps not for this case but for future cases as yes it will be difficult when I have corals in there and such.
OK Ill hold back on the RX-P and try and get my hands on some garlic extreme, will keep you posted on how that goes.
Thanks for all your help, oh and I am getting my T5's tomorrow!!! :D :D :D YIPPEEE!!!
All the best,
Tim
