Well, they do a bit. I will add a few corals here and there but I won't fill the thing with corals.
Hahaha. Remind me to bump this in 5 years!

With that size of tank, you are really going to want to do external pumps, I'd think about doing a closed loop too. I'd rather do some fancy plumbing then have tons of huge power heads in that size of a tank.
If you are planning a transfer personally I think you are pressing your luck on no cycle, if anything I'd set up the 300 gallon sump for your fish, let the main tank cycle then plumb it (if you don't have them stabilized already.)

The tank comes with a closed loop (I believe but I could be wrong). And I agree about the external pump. I will have powerheads in the tank but I am still looking for my return, which will be external, (recommendations wanted please).
I am planning for a cycle... in fact, I plan on forcing the tank into a cycle. I am in no rush to move my fish over. I plan to set up the entire system and cycle it all before transferring my stuff.

The pumps that would be needed are bigger than I really know about. SCSInet would be the better person to ask. I really like my iwaki md80 now noise high output, but it is the higher end one with low head loss, depending on the size of your sump that might be ideal. Especially with the head pressure you'll have pumping up a floor.

Another change of plans. The fish room is starting to come together. However I was picking up the rubbermaids today and, unfortunately, the 300 gallon would not fit in my car. So I went with the 150 gallon for the sump. The new sink is also in. I am still looking for a fuge that's around 75 gallons to drain into the sump. I also got a 100 gallon for a reservoir for ro water and for mixing.
Tomorrow I'm going to see my new tank and drop off a deposit. I may get a couple pics then.

Well, the tank is now mine. I went to the seller's house to check everything out and gave him a deposit. This thing's sick...
The guy had over 1000 gallons in total system, including another frag tank, 2 150 gallon sumps, a 200+ divided tank for breeding clowns. Unbelievable...

There is going to be a lot of work. As you can see there is quite a build up of coraline algae that I will remove. I will sand and refinish the canopy so it is all black. I have to paint the tank's background. Have to get 2 pumps for the closed loops and a return. But this bad boy's mine.
I can't freaking wait to get this stuff rolling.
It's going to take me years to fill this thing and the sump with liverock.

Just for my own benefit, here's my checklist...
Things to do:
1) Pick everything up
2) Scrape algae, buff out minor scratches
3) Sand and stain canopy
4) Paint back of tank
5) Plumb through wall
6) Reinforce floor
7) Fill and cycle system
Am I forgetting anything here?
Things to get:
1) Return pump
2) Pumps for closed loops
3) 75-90 gallon tank with stand for fuge (preferably already drilled)
4) Boatloads of salt and liverock
5) Black sand for the display
What else?

Congrats!!! You must be pumped...maybe a little nervous too.
Sounds like you have a good plan.
Will this be your first acrylic tank crimzy? Or is your 220 acrylic?
Skimmer plans?

My 220 is glass but I've had acrylic tanks before. My skimmer is the last thing on my list. I will keep my coralife superskimmer and will just be looking for deals for the next few months. Everything else is pretty much a necessity for getting the tank up and running. I figure that it's not a crisis if I don't have another skimmer for a couple of months. I'm not going to add fish quickly anyway.

I just made the deal to purchase my refugium. I am picking up the 85 gallon tank and stand tomorrow evening.
It's not drilled so I'll have to get it drilled before it's ready but that's ok.
And I got 3 helpers ready to move the display with stand and canopy. 4 of us should be ok with it.
Still looking for a return. That's probably going to be next... debating on a Dolphin AmpMaster 3600/4000... but the one I found is 5 years old so I'm not sure if I want it.

If it is a good deal why not? You should really have one in a box waiting if the main one goes out. You can't just run out and buy these pumps at the store for the most part So to have one on standby can be very helpful. that is an awesome tank you ar getting by the way.

Well I went to pick up the fuge tank tonight and I had to pick up a bunch of liverock. The guy was moving and had a bunch of rock/sand to get rid of cheap. So, I took 3 buckets full of rock (probably about 75 lbs) and a bucket of sand (about 50 lbs). I got all of this for just $50.
It's all curing in the sump now. Feels great to actually have some water and stuff in there.

A bit more progress being made. I received my return pump today. Going to get the tank, stand and canopy next Tuesday. I've discovered that since the stand won't fit through my doors, I will have to cut it in half to get it in the house. Oh well...
