nitate 40-80
thats with just using the water from my disply tank. i also did a water change on my disply tank as well.
i got a 10 gal set up with a aquaclear mini filter. it only came with one sponge, and 1 bag of black charcloe, what else can i use cause i can fit one more bag in the filter. now i didnt' put in one of my LR's from my disply yet should i so i can start the cycling of the qt tank or i dont have to do that?i would like to start cycling asap so i can put my 4 fish in the qt for ich problems.

Check the FAQ section at the top of this forum for all the basics to starting a QT. You can use a small piece of Live Rock and a little bit of your LS to help jumpstart the cycle. Because you used water from your main tank, it shouldn't take to long to get everything going (that water has some of the bacteria already in it). Check your water daily to make sure you've cycled. Again, check the FAQ section, it will clear alot of questions up, good luck with everything.

chris, you don't have any fish in that QT yet, do you? If not, take those filter pads and put them in your display for a few of days.....add even more seeding power to the QT.
Add a sponge filter and maybe a small PH.

Yes, you can use the aquaclear. What I am saying is that whatever filter media that came with the aquafclear should go into your display for a few days. The filter media will become "seeded" in your display. Then you can add the put the seeded filter material back in the aquaclear. It will have bacteria adding to the biofilter of your QT.

You can add whatever you want. Sponge filters are always good for QT's. You might want to add a small PH to get water circulating at the bottom of the QT.
Fluval sells a small "underwater" pump which is a combination PH/mini filter pad/media which is nice for QTs.
