My Skimmers going crazy today

I've had to dump my skimmer cup(aqua c remora) 4 times in about 4 hours. This is crazy. I haven't added anything for 2 weeks. I have had a bad case of diatoms, is there any chance it's getting rid of this. For the most part the skimmer cup is full of clear water.

Strange that its doing that without you having added anything to the water. Can you just raise the collection cup up a bit so its more of a dry foam that ends up in it?

are you using dechlorinator in your change water?

i would start checking the water, check for ammonia,nitrite and nitrates. maybe something died and is polluting the tank.

I use RO water and I checked my levels and everything is fine. It has finally calmed down now.

Were you doing any painting? How about burning a lot of those scented candles? Has the wife been spraying any sort of deodorizer like those glade plug-ins or lysol? fresh scents? Hair spray,perfume perhaps some sort of soap or detergent has entered your water column,did the kids stick anything in there? It sounds like some sort of chemical contamination or skimmer malfucntion IMO.
