If the food is floating at the top of the water it might be a possibility that he is in jesting some air as he eats. This is not a problem if he is passing it back out . What and how are you feeding him ?
yeah my gsp got an air bubble and was out for about a week. i actually had to squeeze it out of him. then he farted it out. (if im lying im dyeing)
if his belly is lumpy its ok but if its like a bubble it can be bad
my striped dogface will get the exact same way - fully stuffed from a big meal. these guys will eat and eat and eat - it's almost like they don't know when to stop. I just try to keep him from eating too much. I only hand feed mine now to keep him from overeating.

I feed him krill, prawn, and mysis. he also eats the angel formula that I put in there to feed my koran. his belly gets lumpy and only stays like that for maybe at the most a few hours

Try feeding smaller amounts at a time and more often and see if that helps . I have always fed my fish a few smaller meals a few times a day .
