my tank @ 5 weeks

12g Aquapod
MJ-900 (replaced stock pump)
54w PCs
15lbs LR
20lbs LS
Clean-up Crew:
- 3 Astraea snails
- 5 cerith snails
- 5 nassarius snails
- 5 dwarf Zebra hermit crabs
- 4 scarlet Reef hermit crabs
- 1 emerald crab
Fish:
- 1 fuzzy dwarf lion
- 1 maroon clown
Corals:
- watermellon mushrooms
- red mushroom
- hairy mushroom
- blue/green ricordia

- zoos (4 different varieties)
- green/purple frogspawn

- pulsing xenia
- capnella
I took this pics this morning before I left for work, so some polyps aren't fully opened yet. Only the actinic lights were on, so I try to color-correct the photos a bit. Not great, but not bad for a rush job. I'll get more/better pics when I have more time.
Full Tank Shot - I'm pretty happy with everything as is. The lether is about half way up on the left... I may move that as it's blocking a nice hole/opening in the rockwork. We'll see.

Jackson, your tank looks fantastic and is very impressive for only being five weeks old.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news or criticize a new hobbyist, but you will definitely need to buy a bigger tank or find a new home for your dwarf lion.

They grow at the very least to five inches as adults and sometimes up to eight inches and on top of that they are messy eaters and are a heavy addition in terms of bioload.
A 12 gallon Aquapod is just not suitable for one of these guys; short-term or long-term.
On a lighter note, the corals you have added really look fabulous. Keep up the good work!

I know. I wasn't offended in the least. I'm not new to the hobby, so nothing he said was a suprised to me. Besides, I'd rather he assume I didn't know and point it out than not point it out and have a couple of dead fish, if not a total tank crash somewhere down the road.

Yep, that is a really nice picture of a beautiful tank. Good work so far!! I am anxious to see how this tank progresses because it is so nice already.

How did you get 54 watt Pc"s? The highest I could find that would be short enough to fin in my hood was 32 watt.
O.K. now for a stupid ?, does 54 watt give you better light for keeping corals? Would a 54 watt make the colors in the corals brighter or is it just better lighting to see everything by?

I've got 2 27w bulbs - I believe it's a custom setup from the manufacturer of the tank. I wanted to replace the bulbs with a 20k and an 50/50, all I can find is the stockers (10k and actinic).
Generally speaking, the more watts you have the better when it comes to corals. Most corals are at least mostly photosynthetic, so the more light you give them the happier they are.

I see, yea mine came with the 27 watt too. I though you meant each bulb was 54 watt. I didn't know you could add them together. So technically, mine has 64 watt, right? because I switched them to 32 watt.
