My tank crashed after power was turned off

The power company didn't receive my check last month.
I was on vacation and just got home. My power was off for 4 days. My tank is completely cloudy right now and it appears as if all fish, hermit crabs, and snails are dead.

they usually send one out before they turn power off.....

geeze, a couple of cut off notices and when they show up to cut power they offer a chance to pay right then and there. A friend of ours works for our local gas company.
We have been through ice stroms where we lost power for days. They only thing that survived were the crabs and snails

Lovethesea: That is how they do in Wisconsin too, but if you don't pay in 1 month they cut you off.. In Illinois they don't cut you off until you owe past due for 3 months. Every place is different.
Alzika: Again I don't think you have bad luck...you do stuff to yourself. You have to learn to take care of your business and keep up on what is going on around you. The little things in your life blow up to become big problems.
Is anything alive at all? If anything is alive, move it to a hospital tank where you can do small water changes to keep whatever it is alive.
All you can do is make up some fresh saltwater, clear out the dead, turn back on the pumps to get things flowing. The tank is going to cycle big time.
I'm really confused, you posted about your girlfriend woes...did that happen while you were on vacation and you just got back and found your tank dead?

Power company here would never cut your power after missing just one payment. I've heard of people going 6 months or more without paying the bill before being cut off.

Here in Az APS turns the power off on the 11th day after non-payment and can take up to 3 business days to turn it back on. It really bites in the summer. I've had my power turned off once last summer and had to put ice in the tank every couple hours to keep the temperature down and used a whisk to aerate the water a few times a day. Never lost anything those 2 days, but I was at home to make it work.

same here my a/c went out for 4 days.friday afternoon and holiday weekend so no part till tuesday .the ice blocks worked no losses.our company here gives a month behind then the termination date usually within a week .i usually dont get around to paying it till the termination notice comes.just lazy i guess.i just dont like the take it out of your account thing every month.dont trust them.just yesterday i got a notice i owe directv $30 balance.i just went online less than a week ago and paid my bill in full.so gotta send them an email .just cant trust any of these big companies anymore imo.

yeah, I save every reciept of an online payment. I didn't used to, but then I had a credit card co bump up my rates to their penalty rates, saying no payment, and I know I paid it, but then I go look and they never took money out... And I had no way to prove it. It ended up happening again, I showed a different company the reciept and won.
