I just finished cycling my tank with LR. I am letting it set for a while more, just to be sure and feeding the sand brineshrime to keep the cycle up with nothing in the tank.
All readings are good (have not checked phosphates-dont have a test kit) temp is 77 and it is a 0 gal w/ DSB 144w PC lighting.
I was expecting a diatom bloom as part of finishing the cycle process, but this is wierd. I went to bed last night and the tank looked fine, a little brown on the sand but not much more.
This morning, there is green hair algae ALL
over my coraline, tank and rocks.
I cut back on lighting and quit feeding the tank. any ideas as to why this happened?

Need to really get a test kit for the phosphates to determin the source. Do you have a cleaning crew yet. You test your silicates?
