lol he probably tried to plug everything in one at a time and got electricuted to death... GOOD JOB GUYS YOU GOT HIM KILLED!!! lol... hope he figured out the prob with the tank... if he's getting shocked when touching hte water, then the fish and/or coral are constently in the current which, common sense would say, is NOT GOOD.

Not getting shocked anymore. I couldnt figure out wth was causing the current I unplugged everything including light and still had a little tingle when i reached in the tank. LFS didnt carry grounding probs and said was better to get rid of devices causing current than adding probs. I unplugged everything and left it unpluged for a few days... except sump pump... because i just didnt have time to mess w/it. I checked it today and current gone. I did a major overhall on the tank its 180 and i did about a 50g water change. pluged my ph's back up one at a time felt all aroung them in water for a zap nothing .. i took my in sump protien skimmer out set it up in sink let it sit there for an hour while i worked on tank no shock from it... the heater hasnt been plugged up in about 2mo's cuz its just hot here in nc durring summer... so i dont know but 3 hours after water change and plugging stuff back in still no shock ill keep u posted

No need if things are kept clean and its properly wired and grounded and protected.

sounds like you have stray voltage, you need to find the source, it will only get worse!
Get yourself a grounding probe, the grounding probe is to protect you!!!
Dont test the water by finger test, a good voltage zap can cause you major issues, mostly affects your heart (cardiac rythm) if you heart goes into abnormal rythm the only way to get it back to normal is to go into the er and they have to zap you again with the paddles to get your heart into normal rythm, my wife is a nurse and i'm a engineer, so i know about this stuff.
Go to home depot or lowes and get a voltage tester, they are not expensive!
I now have probe's all on my tanks...
