my tank pics

I have been putting together this 90 gallon saltwater corner bow tank in my house. It will be a coral reef tank when it's all said and done.
this pic is with the addition of my new 24 hour lighting system in place (Halide turned off) as well as a few starter "cheap" fish, 20 crabs and 4 different types of corals that I happened to run across for dirt cheap.

When this tank is done "could be never" I plan on having a small variety of small "2-5" inch reef safe fish and tons of different soft and hard corals as well as large clams, feather dusters and invertebrates to add to my little piece of ocean in the corner.
Not bad for a beginner huh? tell me what ya think guys.
these are my new black clowns

this is my new frog spawn coral

a close up of the torch (not very good pic)

this is the cabbage coral (the crab's need to clean the hair alge off of it lol)

here is a decent pic of the frogspawn and torch with the clowns swimming by it.

this pic is of a colony of polyps with one of my snail's to the left

the small green spot in the middle of this live rock is the start of a colony of star polyp's.

here's a pic of the whole tank as it is right now!

Off to a good start
What light fixture are you using? I was considering getting a 90 corner, but I didnt think a standard light fixture would fit on top it.
Nice Tank!

Nice Tank!
it's a 36 inch that i got off of e-bay new pretty cheap. it seems to work great and with the 250 watt halide and two pc's it puts out 442 total watts. it also has the led moonlights.

Looks great!
My frogspawn and torch are my favorite corals so far. IMO your tank would look awesome with a black background. It would also hide some of your equipment.

all levels are correct, untraceable ammonia, nitrate and nitrite, we still check daily! ph good and we use a calcium buffer with 12 % weekly water changes. we also have a quarantine already set up and cycled with the same levels for any future fish additions to keep everything in good health.........thank you SWF for all of the great advice. next up, brittle stars, sand sifting snails, turbos, emerald crabs. Just more workers to keep the reef tidy before any new expensive additions are added.

I would like a torch coral as well, but SWF.com says they are difficult to keep. So, a few questions for you: Do you find it difficult or risky? How long have you had it? Have your clowns hosted it?

Wow what a nice Tank!
i have a 44g that Im upgrading soon as the person Im buying it from is ready. Im also going to a 90g
Your tank is very pretty! How old/new is it? What kind of rock is that 'windswept' looking rock? Its very different and creates a whole 'nother LOOK that Im not used to!
Keep up the good work
What kinds of little fishes are you going to add?

Don't think you were directing this question for me, but I'll still answer.
I've had my torch for over two months, maybe three and it's doing great. When I had my T5 10,000/Actinics I had it close to the top, but now that I have my MHs I have him on the bottom. I don't spot feed, just add Phytoplex twice a week and then Black Powder every two weeks for all my corals. I'm pretty new at this so since I havn't killed it yet I wouldn't say it's a hard coral.
Oh, and my clowns have not hosted the torch or the frogspawn, but they seem to like my mag-float.

here are some more pic's as my small piece of the ocean evolves.
here's my blenny that must hate cameras lol

look close, there's a brittle star pokin out of those holes in the rock.

this has to be one of my favorite additions to my tank so far. a breeding pair of cleaner shrimp (one's holding baby's). oh, check out the mushroom to the right.

and this is my tank as it sits right now on 07-04-07

current list....
2 black clowns
1 lawnmower blenny
4 green chromis
a torch coral
a frogspawn coral
2 clusters of polyp corals
1 overcrowded cabbage coral
1 cluster of sun coral polyps
1 very tiny cluster of sun coral polyps
1 tiny patch of star polyp coral
around 7 or 8 small feather dusters (hitchhikers)
a few patches of different mushrooms
30+hermit crabs (blue and red)
10 big emperor snails
1 brittle starfish
and plenty of other hitchhikers that came with live rock

the "windswept" rock is from my old african chiclid tank and its called bone rock or texas holey rock. as for the big rock in the middle, im not completly sure but i thought it looked nice and have had it for a long time in freshwater tanks. i see alot of coraline on it so hopefully that green will turn purple in time.
i will be adding a flame angel (last) for sure and maybe a manderian a year from now . a yellow tang maybe also. a wrasse of some kind. i will be researching on a red scooter dragonet to see if it will be fine with my planned fish as well. i will be trading in my 4 chromis as i add fish so i can keep my fish count small.
i will also be adding alot of different corals to the tank and that is my main priority. the list will include a brain, a plate, maybe a toadstool leather, a x-mas tree, a fox, a tree leather, and some other hard branching corals that i cant remember the name for. some ricorda mushrooms are also a must for me.
more rock will be added as well

I really like this new setup. I have a kind of mini version of this look in my 29g biocube. I'm waiting for some new lenses to arrive or I'd take a new pic to show you. But I have a similar cave and open middle, too. I really like the bowfront corner look. Have you thought about putting a black background on yours? I think it would really show off everything in your tank. Just a thought!
