i love the arrow crab! and did you order the scooter off of swf? he looks very healthy. how long has your tank been set up? my only concern is that it will starve due to lack of pods. you might want to oreder a few bags of pods off of here.
i dont know how i missed this thread lol.

cool pictures! I recommend you get the red scooter out and exchange it for a different fish. They eat lots of pods. I'm guessing your tank is fairly new and not at least 50gal tank?

its a 90 gallon and has a sump with around 12 gallons in it also.
btw, there is more than 50+ pounds of live rock in there already with more to come. not to mention the 70+ non live rock and more in the sump!
the scooter was an impulse buy and we intend to give him plenty of pods until they start breeding on there own to make it right for him or we will take him out if we see him getting skinny. refugium coming real soon!

do i see texas holey rock in the tank ???
In addition to costing more per volume, this has the added drawback of making the rock a poor choice for bacterial surface area and a poor choice for colonization by fauna (brittlestars, worms, various crustaceans). Smooth rocks, and other than coralline coverage the rocks are generally lifeless.
I don't think it ever makes good live rock - just filler. Plastic forms and PVC would work better, and quite frankly would colonize with life better.
But it is a nice tank.

why did u return him?
he grabbed one of my $30 cleaner shrimp by the antenna and was picking at a colony of zoo's that i paid around $30 for. not worth the hassle for a $12 crab no matter how cool he looked!

i have had more enjoyment with this reef tank in this short period than i had in many years with freshwater! more expensive but well worth it IMO.

updated pics.
this is my new duster and some rics to the right of the pic.

here are my emperor goby's that are in qt right now. i will probably only be putting one in my tank though.

my favorite new additions...the 2 fire shrimp.

i finally got a pic of the brittle star.

here's the new sump i built to replace my smaller one.

this is the fuge section, i know i got a long ways to go in there.

and this is the latest full tank shot!

Nice tank... Have you tested a power outage? That sump looks really full and appears to be a flood waiting to happen.

no floods, the return is real close to the top of the display and when the power is shut off the sump only rises a little more than half of the empty space in the sump. that is a 55 gallon sump with around 5 inches left at the top so there's still some gallons to go before it would flood.

yeah, i like the cave. i still want more rock and usually pick up a piece here and there from time to time. i'll just be glad when i'm done filling it with fish. ich scares me and i am going to do all that i can to NOT introduce it into my tank but i am still 4-5 fish shy of my finished amount after the 4 cromis go. i have decided to take back the emperor goby's to my lfs and they are half way through the 4 week quarintine process. oh well, i will start over my qt time with a couple of fish more suitable for my reef.
