55 gallon cornor reef
20 gallon hexagon refugium
cant get water temp bellow 80 degrees even with heater turned down to 65 degrees, I dont see the heater cycleing much it seems to be off more the on, could my coralife lamp Im running 24/7 on the refugium be heating up the water? should I try running the refugium lamp reverse of the tank lighting, I have a digital and a seperate analog thermometer in the tank and the both ae reading the same temp so I know the reading is accurate.

what type of lighting are you running? the majority of reef lighting produces a lot of heat, which stays in your tank if you have a canopy over it. if it is your lights, try putting some fans on or in your canopy to help disperse the heat. 80 degrees isnt too high persay, but still.
im running VHOs on my tank, and my tank was running in the low to mid 80's, so i hung two 3" fans from radio shack on the back of my canopy, and it helps to get rid of the heat.

I found a clip on fan and directed it towards the return of my sump. I got my temp down by about 4 degrees. My heater use to never come and now it can finally do it's job.

Yeah the fan aimed directly at any water in your closed system will cause evaporation and take several degrees from the tank. I got a 110 off of ---- when I was home on leave from Iraq and inherited some 2x 150 halides and 4x65 PC's. The halides are about 5-6 inches off the water and were causing major heat issues. I didn't have much time and so I went with the fan on the sump method. Its simple and much cheaper than a chiller.

I switched to running the refuge on a reverse schedule from the tank lighting and the temp has already dropped from 80.1 to 77.5 overnight should I be happy here or try to get it a little cooler by useing one of those clip on fans, Whare could I purchase a clip on fan?

Your temp isn't bad now. If you want to get a clip on fan, you can find them anywhere. I got mine at Wal-Mart for $20.

mid to upper 70's is perfect. just dont let the temperature go crazy when you've got more livestock in there.

IMO you should put one of those clip fans over the refugium.
