ok...so i was talking to a good friend of mine today about my cup to see what he thought about it and he said that it might help it open if i put it in a 5 gallon bucket filled up only half way, then got some kent marine lugols solution and gave it a bath in that. is that a good idea? bad idea? he showed me one of his tracs that he did that too just a few days about and it has already gotten majority of its color back. since i moved it again im going to wait a while and see if it opens but if not then im going to try what he said. BTW he sold me a sweet frag of zoas for real cheap so when they open up ill get some pictures up.

thanks! i like it a lot too! i saw it in a buddy of mines tank and idk just the way it looked made the take pop. i did something a little different than he did thought. his is bare bottom and thats it. what i did with mine when i changed out all the rock from lace to what i have now, since its a small tank, i bought some rectangular mirrors and actually put those under the tank since the frame of the tank makes it sit up just high enough. so now as my lights reflect down, they also hit the mirrors and reflect up.

All I know is that it depends on how well your water quality is, and the available nutrients that they can use. I have no clue on how fast though, but from some reading, some can grow like weeds

That makes two of us, you should document it and see how long it takes to grow. That'd be cool

are you talking about the coral next to the goniopora in the middle of the tank? if you are then its called a Fox Coral. they are pretty easy to keep. as soon as i put it into the tank it opened up nicely and better than it looked when i bought it
but i hope that answers your question. let me know if you have any more and good luck with your cycle
