my tomatoe clowns just laid eggs in my DT. unfortunatly there are too many predatory things in my tank, so they wont make it. if the shrimps dont pick them off the six line and sand perch will when they hatch. they are also attached to a rather permanent rock so I can move them. I'm kind of bummed about that. I have a friend that wanted the eggs but I cant remove them.
here is a pic.

my 14" leather is attached to that rock and a 20lb rock next to it as well as the original rock it came on. I would have to damage my leather to do anything with that rock. I cant get a hold of the guy that was going to take them any how. bummer. I really should set up a tank just for the so they ca, lay their eggs and I could hatch them out.

Congrats...
Its a sign of healthy happy fish.
Dont worry about them being eat when they become free swimming. Adds variety to the diet of the tank mates.
Raiseing clowns requires a lot of research and various equipment and one must be well prepaired in advance befor even attempting this.
On avarage, clowns will keep laying eggs about every 2 weeks.

I was hoping I could give the eggs to my friend who is part of the local aquaculture program at the university. to add captive bred livestock to their collection for breeding as well as just to help support the local university.

You could try to place a smaller rock or shell ( oyster, clam, ect.) that the clowns might lay the eggs on that you could easily remove. Heard of people useing ceramic tiles ( if you trust them to be nontoxic ). No gaurantee the clowns will exept the new surface though. Mine always use the same spot over and over....so much that they have worn a hole in that spot so much from cleaning there.

You can not take the egs off the rock. Even if by some miricale you did not kill the eggs they need to be attached to something to hatch. You can try to put a smaller rock there and they may or may not lay eggs on it. If your freind is interested I have an egg laying pair of tomatoes that I am trying to sell or trade for something. If interested e-mail me mscarpena@msn.com. I also have tank raised anemones(BTA)
