6.. i thought maybe somone killed them perfectly.. they were in a nice little formation.. must've been a truck.... i mean.. they were all dead within about a 2 foot proximity of each other.. it was freakin gross..
intestines were hanging out, just guts... all over, feathers as if somone had blown up a feather pillow

In defense of your local PD, cleaning up road kill should not be something you want them doing. However, if you told them there was a hazard, they probably would have gotten them off the road. If we see a potential hazard such as this we should take the intiative to deal with it ourselves as long as it can be done safely.

On public roads it is the responsiblity of either the Highway department or the sanitation department to remove animal corpses. Not the police department unless there is an immediate threat to people in the area. Conversely live animals are the responsiblity of the local DNR or wildlife agency.

Really that is how it works out here. I work for the game and fish.
Edit: I quess it really does depend on the area.

By me, usually if there is an animal control officer, (usually based out of the p.d.) then they usually get the dead dogs, etc.

Sadly, it's not there job but there is *like in my err small city* there's a traffic control that will drive the roads and fix lights, take the animals, etc.
Actually, three nights ago i was deliverying pizza when a racoon ran in my way, i thought i missed it but on the drive back i saw it there, barly breathing. I get back call all these numbers and they tell me to call the pd...
so i do and they say they'll contact the DEP and they'll send someone over to see if it's deceased or not. So, once i hang up *i was off of work* i drive back there, pull over and start walking back to the racoon and there's ANOTHER one. I run back to mycar, there's blood on my tire and i freak ou cuz like, it was not there before and i must of hit ANOTHER one, but this one was walking to see the other racoon. SO granted, i called the pd again and reported it and then contacted my sister who THEN called the pd to try to get the DEP number and a cop pulls over thinking i have a break down and then HE reports it and then i hear them papa viniger, something, keeps sending out 211's and they took my license and in the end, they were pretty pissed at me.

They just lowered the speed limit in town ( NO advance notice given anywhere) to 25. Funny the P.D. renovation is over. The bad thing they were advised to write warnings, but no it's tickets all around. Gotta pay for the P.D. somehow.
