Well today is half price wednesday at my LFS yay half off livestock well got there and what do my wandering eyes should appear but a tiny sleig and eight oh wait wrong story ahem any way i get there and stop dead in my tracks jaw dropped to the floor the bigggest that would be biggest with an extra G thats how big of fish these were the first to really catch my eye was a Porc puffer a good 12" long huge just massive in a 29 or less tank then what do i see and boy do i wish i had my camera with me but a yellow tail damsel of about 8 inches long and about from top to belly a good 2-3 inches he was so big his color was starting to become off and the story i got from the LFS guy was that these two and a yellow tang of average size where all in a 38 gallon tank i almost lost it. Course my attention was quickly averted to the 9 foot bermise*(SP) python that was in the plastic tote all ready for his new habitat well everyone in the store was standing around it scared to touch it so i offered my assistance with it open the lid and since i didn't know this snake i decided the safest way to handle was to grab right behind the head well that pissed him of he started to coil which didn't bother me but when he opened his mouth to try and take a piece of my arm into his new home with him i started to get a little unsure but all worked out fine and i did my good deed for the day yay me. anyway i came away from the store with two giant snails 2 bucks apiece and a what appears to be a porcelien crab not sure yet though and a really nice piece of LR all for like 30 bucks beauty of this store is their LR is 3.99/LB which around here can't be beat so ther is my story of my trip to the LFS I hope you enjoy reading this as i enjoyed living it.

hey which lfs did you go to? like sweetdawn said in another post the one by elderbeerman is awful, always doing crazy stuff like that, putting fish in too small tanks... and i think the last time i was in there, they had like 3 or 4 different species of clownfishes all in the same little tank, and they all ganged up on one fo the false percs... i do hope he lived...
anyways, way to be brave and pick up the snake! no way in the world i'd've done it!!

My daughter lives in a city that is quite a bit larger than where I live, and she's learned so much through my setting my tank up, that she will go into the big chain stores that are housing aggressives with docile fish and give them holy shoot out (she goes for the dog food for her puppy, by the way, not just to pick a fight or anything
) I think it's kinda funny...she's normally not that way at all except when it comes to something she feels strongly about or knows for certain about. I say...go for it!!
The snake thing though, eewwwee, not me!!

The store in question is actually in wabash over by autozone there selection is low but sometimes they have good stuff they seem to always have decorator crabs. there LR isn't the greatest in the world but for 3.99/LB i always seem to get good growth starting on them. there is a new store near elderbeerman? didn't know that in warsaw i usually go to the one down by autozone. but my fav around is the one in goshen or the one on coldwater ave. in fort wayne they are highly intellegent about the fish. i should be going to the one in fort wayne today maybe a couple of them. i'm always at a LFS i'm addicted. i'm glad everyone enjoied my story it was an interesting day. as for the coraline gowth on the LR doesn't tend to have a whole lot but if you've got any in your tank the stuff i get kinda looks like a brain and it really takes the coraline alge and gets decent coverage.

hey i found the one in goshen very nice. kinda hard to find if you dont know its there. bought a yellow clown gobie and a cleaner wrasse. also got a coral. love there display tank couple of the black percs wish they were for sale. i bought at the store by elderbermans when they first opened cause i got cleaner shrimp for 5.99 but now all there fish are diseased and there tanks are covered in slime. if your going to fortwayne today and youve never been to the coral reef you take colliseum blvd past the colliseum to anthony street i think its is. it is right after the bridge take a sharp right. go a couple of blocks is on the left doesnt open till 1:00. really good choice of corals and fish at the store in angola half hour north of fortwayne got zoos for 25.00 big rocks covered with them

ahhh, wabash, even better.....i am from a city just outside goshen, i really like the fish store, if youre talkin about age of aquariums....wish there were a bit more....but ive been trying to find some good petstores, itll be nice once i move back up north, more than this junk around here.lol

no the warsaw store is paws and claws i think down from Autozone they usually have a descent selection but a little expensive. little town outside goshen new

[hr]
? middleberry? dunlap? Bristol? i used to work up there so i know the area pretty well. yeah age of aquariums when you say back up north you talking like kalamazoo or something thats the only thing north i can think of at least north of you lmao. any way went to coral reef aquariums in fort wayne today and very nice people but they have some sick fish and their LR is 9.00/LB and not even good growth on it and several fish were dead and others were close to death so i left with nothing i'm not infecting my tank with that stuff. i didn't make it anywhere else
didn't have enough time but thats ok.

haha, try millersburg, the other small small town. lol you'll have to let me know when another pawsclaws half price day is coming, or is it every wed? but down here i have to drive to indy to get to any decent stores, which is ok....but i wish there was one that was closer.

it's actually J&K aquariums in wabash that has a half priced wed but you have to pay like 5 bucks a year to be a pet club member which if they have what you want it's worth it

ahhhh, i was gonna stop in there once but they had moved i think, so i never made it. but considering i only have a 10gallon, it prolly wouldnt be worth it, maybe.
