I bought 4 Turbo snails today and well, theyre not as active as I expected. I floated them for about 2 hours and acclimated for 3. Theyve been in the same place since then. 2 are out a little bit and the other 2 are still in their shell. What gives?
Thanks

Wow ..... that's a lot of acclimation time for snails, IMO. They might just be tired. Give them time. :D

Just wanted to make sure they would be okay. On the upside, my Emerald is taking care of my bubble algea! He's chomping down!

Ok, this morning around 02:00, one of my snails made its way to the top of the tank, and she's still there, almost all the way out of the water. I woke up this morning to find another one at the top of the tank as well. The third one looks like its waking up and kinda moving around and the fourth one is still in its original spot.
:help:

Ok, we got all of them on LR and munchin! Yay! Except one....
I took it out of the tank and looked at it. Its kinda out of its shell and when I touched it, it didnt shrink back. Nothing. Think its a goner?

Well I brought it back to the LFS, it was dead. :(
I was tempted by a cleaner shrimp but then I looked at the price... $35.00!
Ill just wait til someone wants to split an order from here, lol.
My other three are just fine, chowing down on the diatoms and screwing with Sebastian, if you can believe that, lol.
 :jumping: :cheer:

Careful with the cleaner shrimp, I hear they are extremely agressive towards one another.

A couple people here said they work better in pairs?:notsure:

Can someone clear this up please? I was told that cleaner shrimp set up cleaning shops for fish, and are highly territorial; guarding thier shop from competition. The source also stated that the shrimp will do battle until one perishes if they encounter each other.
edit- I think I recall reading that mated pairs are ok, but anything else will do the above. Some expert opinion on the matter would be appreciated.

To bad on the turbo :nope: . As far as them coming out at night. Mine are like the rest they are out all the time there on the glass rock sand and all. And the cleaner shrimp they will do well as long as there a pair. Or you have a really big tank.

But you have to remember lfs's dont plan on keeping them very long. My local store has around 30 or so clown fish in one tank and we all know how that will end up once they reach adult hood.

I understand that, Im not gonna try to cram stuff in my tank. 1 shrimp, a clown and a goby and thats it.

i've 3 cleaner shrimp in my 55 and they have always been cool. they keep a distance of 5-6" from one another, but they all move from rock to rock together. it could be my gobies and clown scaring the hell out of them that they think they have to move in a pack, but SHRIMP RULE! they are so much fun to watch. :jumping:
