Wow those are.....stupid. xD
Well yeah... Same as tickle me Elmo, gi Joe, Barbie dolls and pretty much every toy invented for kids under 8, but the fact of the matter is that they want them and people are knocking each other down to get to them... Check them out on the auction sight, a set of four go for over $200!!
Did I mention that they are (were) $8 a piece?
Crazy...

so....lets talk about how D U M B....Lovie is. Well, she was at Toys r Us a few weeks ago looking for a present for #2 child friend bday. The store had just opened. Lovie minding her own business, scouring the store for a present
heard an employee talking to another employee about where to place the cases of "pets". Employee 1 says to Employee 2.....just open the cases and place them by (whatever because...I wasn't paying attention).
Yep, I had said "pets" in my hands...but wasn't paying attention, radar NOT on

Got said present and left. Later that night saw the news. Yes, Lovie is now completely aware of how stupid she is. The news was showing the Pet "craze".
CASES....plural.....cases of pets.
feel free to remind me how D U M B I am. Yep!

So, what did you end up getting...
And were the "pets" not hoarded up as soon as they were out of the box??

I got the friend some nerf "gun" thing. My kid said it was so much fun he wants one.

So...on to the pet thing. Actually there wasn't anyone hoarding/grabbing/fighting/pulling hair/etc.
I think that was why I was so complacent. If there was a ruckus, I missed it. There really weren't that many people in the store at that time.

What parents will do so their kids can have a useless toy under the tree for Xmas. I have to admit I was one of those idiotic parents when the Pokemon craze was going on, and my daughter had to have the talking Pinkachu. The funny thing is, she got tired of messing with it 6 months later. When the Wii craze hit, I just put a picture from an ad in a Christmas card and put it in her stocking. When she opened it, I told her "Your Wii will be here in a month or so after the craze wears off from Christmas." She said, "Cool by me", and we finished opening all our presents. When we did get the Wii, I got her an extra couple of games I probably wouldn't have bought just as a kind of reward for being so patient for waiting.
I see "Jingle All The Way" with Arnuld and Sinbad is running right now. Funny movie about this same excessive behavior about getting kids what they want for Xmas.

anyone remember the Cabbage Patch craze?? People were hurt over those dumb things.

that was way before e-site and people selling things for crazy prices. People were just wanting them for their kids.

I remember cabbage patch. We also had a tickle me elmo. We bought it before the big craze hit. I almost returned it because I saw it advertized for $5 cheaper. Luckily I thought I better buy the cheaper one before returning the one that I had.
I wish I knew about these, I would have looked at Toys R Us when I was there at 2:30 in the morning on Friday. But my kids have moved past this phase thankfully. Now it is all about the ipods, and TVs and cell phones. You know, the cheap stuff.

Oh those cabbage patches were insane! They must have filled some empty nest syndrome, as a lot of adults wanted those!
My shopping was all done early, so no lines or fighting crouds here. I'd rather pay more than go out on black Friday!

Sooooo true....I am not done shopping, but NOTHING, NOTHING at any store anywhere could get me out of bed and fight that mess. There were people lined up at our Best Buy, Target and Kohls in TENTS at 8pm Tday night. A freind of ours went to Best Buy at 3 am to get a laptop. Guess what, the store only had 5 of them. A family 5 in front of them bought them all
. Each had a line ticket.

Can't do the uggs. Just can't. Also how about the fun of this. (Tizzo can relate) You buy $50 video games and you have NO idea if your kid will like them or not. Oh sure you ask but he just will not tell you before hand. Even afterwards he may like it or he may hate it, or he may like it 8 months from now.

When I go out on Black Friday it is not to get the big ticket items. I have gone out the past 3 or 4 years. The first 2 were because it was fun to do with my daughter. Teenage years hit and blew that all to heck and back. The past 2 years I have gone because they had Lego sets on sale. I will not buy a Lego set for $100, but I will for $50 -60. The way I figure is I am missing a couple hours sleep to get my son a toy he would not hoave gotten. This is a no-brainer for me.

I don't like the Ugg boots. HOT HOT HOT. And we get really cold here. But my feet don't like shoes and those boots are gross. (smelly and hot) sorry to anyone who has them)
But my daughter has the little moccain slippers. Those seem tolerable. Now she wants a pair of slipper type uggs. I will say they do get thier moneys worth. Did I mention the boots are HOT?? !!!

Bionic, I'd probably do the same thing you did if my son wanted something so crazed over at the moment. He's starting to see things on t.v. now and saying "let's go to target, get buzz lightyear". He's only 2 1/2! It's funny because every christmas my parents and my in-laws buy him so much stuff that my wife and I don't really have to buy much, which is good because he has enough stuff as it is. When I get home today I have to go through his toys and get rid of the ones he doesn't play with anymore and take them to toys for tots or something. My best friend (my son's godfather) got him the fully programmable Buzz Lightyear robot, and the day after he bought it my son saw it on t.v. and said he wanted it
. He's about as crazy about Lightning Mcqueen and the movie cars as I am about collecting the vehicles from that movie and keeping them packaged in my perfect collection...lol, so my wife and I bought him a power wheels Lightning Mcqueen.
Cool things he'll be getting this year are: Buzz Lightyear robot, D-Rex robot, Lightning McQueen PowerWheels, and a police motorcycle PowerWheels to be kept at granpa's house. He was a motorcycle officer for 35 years and retired as a commander so he took the toy motorcycle to the station and their graphics guy put all the city decals on the bike and even put Officer Jared on the front fender. He's even got a small real city badge that says commanders grandson with his own police ID and everything. i wish I had cool stuff like that when I was a kid. He'll get a bunch of other stuff too, but these are the big ticket items for him this year.
Hopefully with the new budgeting I'll be able to get my own real badge soon. The wait to become a LEO is horrible because of this economy.

Hot you say? Send them out my way. My wife's feet make liquid nitrogen feel warm.

yikes, that cold huh?? Not me. Only thin socks around the house in the winter. Can't stand shoes. You should get her a pair of the moc's. They are cute. Super warm without the "clunky boot" look. All the Uggs are lined with a shearling wool. Very soft and WARM!! (very warm.....yuck)

Well I got some Uggs from Costco. So now they have to pass the visual test from the daughter to make sure they look OK. Then they have to pass the feel test from my wife. This is the harder test because she is kind of particular about how things feel.

Psh you guys are crazy. I live in Boone and uggs are a godsend. Ive got three pairs myself. And they don't smell btw. Unless you have stinky feet, which in that case, all your shoes stink anyways so whats the difference.
