I think you are referring to a 24hr blackout. With that in mind:
You are going to have to keep the light off of your tank somehow.
I realize that moving the tank is quit a chore. Maybe window blinds?
A skimmer helps and not cleening the filters helps.
Basically all the above, lol
Also, A bacteria bloom (causeing cloudy water) can deplete your tanks oxygen levels. Make sure your water has ripples on the surface!
I know I am leaving something out! What?

Actually, not a complete blackout. I had the lights IN the tank off, but the natural light was still coming through the windows just like every day. So the natural light isn't the problem.
The water is definitely well oxygenated.

I would just follow the rest of Broomers suggestions now that you know its not natural light. Just keeping that filter "dirty" may be the trick ;)
