Hi Guys,
Tank going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment. In as much as diatoms and apstasia causing me high blood pressure! Grrrr! Asides from that I have my new Kent RO/DI delivered this morning and getting some water ready (not least some freshwater as salinity is 1.029!!!
Anyway, my zooanthid has some dead heads, I presume down to high salinity (Ca and Alk ok), do i remove them? Will they grow back? He hasnt come out in a week or so but ive been waiting for this RO/DI as my LFS had a fire :(
Cheers for your help,
Tim.

how unusual people havent replied! Normally I can leave it overnight here in UK and I have loads! :D
Seeing as it is daytime here, I imagine Kipass, Barracuda etc are here too :) Any thoughts?

Leave the zoos and give them time to recover...as a rule they tend to be extremely hardy and adaptable. At least thats what I'd do....plus continue to maintain proper water chemistry....patience and steady water levels will bring the zoos back around.

Thanks buddy!
yes I have some RO/DI very nearly ready to put in just to top up and bring salinity down, then tomorrow or as soon as I have 20% worth of water ready I will do a water change.
Its surprising, when buying the Kent maxxxima Ro/DI I read 24gpd and i thought that was really good (bare in mind over here you get about 5gpd!), but watching it dribble out is so frustrating! Good job I have a backup of 2 rubbermaids filled with saltwater and freshwater and a QT!
Thanks for the help,
Tim.

Hi Kip!
Yes I have 2 10gallon rubbermaids in garage and a QT. One is always full of saltwater the other freshwater. I will certainly always keep them full for emergencies :)
In the Kent Maxxxima, what happens in the 4th stage? It looks quite wierd! Also how does the RO/DI know what is waste and what isnt in the 3rd stage?
Fingers crossed hope to report some progress!
Tim.

HI Kip,
Yes that is mine, although the way you described it is slightly wrong i think? Just the one on the right hand side is the last one not the left hand side one.
Yes dont worry i chucked out the first 5 gallons!
Also how long do these filters last?
Thanks,
Tim.

Lower salinity slowly.....you should know this already since you are a regular of the disease forum, but just thought I'd mention it.

LOL Beth 'regular of the disease forum'!
Just want to stress I am not disease plagued, only ever had one! I just like to help others!
Yes I will do it slowly, i will put probably 2-3 gallons of freshwater in today, then hopefully water change with salt water (of say 1.020) tomorrow or sunday.
Cheers guys,
Tim.
