Ha, well... expensive lesson learned! Today we bought two cleaner shrimp. We wished we could have bought them months ago, when they were only $12 each, but I guess prices have risen on them, and we got them for $24.99...
Anyway, after properly acclimating them, we let them loose in the tank, where they immediately hid in a crevice. One came out after a minute or so, and immediately, the Mystery Wrasse started backing it into a corner, while my Puffer bit at its antennae. Finally, after chasing the shrimp around for a bit, the Mystery bit into its bottom half and swam around the tank with the whole shrimp hanging out of its mouth.
It finally banged the shrimp against a rock and the shrimp died... the Mystery set it down on the sand and ate the bottom half in one gulp.
Nick was like, "I'm never sticking MY hand in THERE again!"
We've been laughing about it, but I think it's because we're in shock. We weren't really expecting that to happen.
Both shrimp are dead now
