Okay...since the snail won't leave/change shells, cut him off and propagte onto a crab

Eventually he will get tired of hauling his butt around and find a new shell

How do i frag this type of coral? I am all for the letting him roam, but what to do when it dies? what if i can't find the coral?

I voted for the wrong one.

Meant to vote for "Live" but clicked "die".
Eitherway, it is currently thriving on your snail. Why change that?

totally just let it live. it would be dumb to kill it just because you want some coral that may or may not live after you get it. you dont even know if its a coral, for all you know it might be algae and people are telling you to kill it.
i would either just forget it and leave him alone or get a razor and try to scrape it off and see what happens

it might be a sponge, but i am thinking it is most likely porites. this is not even a particularly pretty type of coral, i would just leave the snail be, and then when he dies see if you can find the shell. most of my dead snail shells pile up in the front sand.
