Remember this set up will be for my niece, as long as she gets her nemo (percula) in the tank that's my main goal. I was considering a nano/bio

Just a bit confused on what to look for ^^^^^^^
OR if I were going to spend, $300+ Pet's Mart has a 20g long tank for about 14.99. I figured I could possibly piece one together nicely.

Any advice??

BTW: I'm not too fond of acrylic tanks, that's out of the ? for me

Hello,
Usually long is better than tall. Gives more swimming room for fishes and if you do corals closer to light. Hope that helps a little.

wider is better too, give room to put rocks in and still have room for sand in the front.
for you niece, i'd go with a cube type unit....aquapod or biocube.
here is why.
its a all in one unit....filter and lighting.
the lights are good for most softies....zoos, mushrooms, ect.
the hood makes for NO top offs. a tank with no hood will need daily top offs of fresh water to keep SG the same.
Just my opinion, there are down sides....if you want better lighting, or don't like the build in filter, no skimmer.
if i was setting up one for a niece, thats what i would go with.
