Name that Clown...

Hi all! I just got two new clowns and the guy at the LFS said they were the same kind, so they would be ok together. He also said that the orange one that i will post a pic of will grow it's stripes. Does anyone know what kind it is and if it WILL grow stripes. We were under the impression that they were born with them, but he was too cute so we got it. Thanks!
There's also pics of the two of them, they've already become buddies and our new BTA. So cool, and it didn't even hide!

One's a misbar, the other...doesn't look like a cinnamon. They probably won't breed, but they may be okay with each other for the long run. If not, you may have to remove and sell one.

Well I don't mean the same as in colour, just the same as in they are both ocellaris so they'll be ok together...I think that's what he meant. Are cinnamon ones dark when they're little?

Yes, they are both morphs of ocellaris. That is a good thing and since they get along now, there is a good chance they will later in life. But nothing is certain. Good luck, they are both very cute. I like your tank btw.

Thank you
I am pretty new to saltwater and tanks in general so this has been so much fun! And addicting...haha. We just got it after Christmas so I think it's doing pretty well, just want to get some more colours in eventually. I think they are cute too! I wanted two different colours so these were def. a good choice!

Oh yeah, the little guy is simply an ocellaris morph. Sometimes they have no bars...check 'em out called n.aked ocellaris they have them on this site as well as picasso clowns. They are all the same species. It's kinda like people. There are japanese, caucasian, african, etc...just like there are misbar, ocellaris, picasso, etc. We can get along and breed with these other races...but some of us hate a certain race for no particular reason at all. I'm glad they're getting along lol.

I don't see how this all applies to clownfish but...

Clownfish can cross with other species, breed and produce hybrids that are fertile, in this respect they break the rules.
Lili13, nice fish they should be fine. I love this combo together, very striking. I have a b/w and orange ocellaris I just put together, hopefully they will bond. good luck

I've only ever heard of ocellaris crossbreeding with percula. Even then, it isn't common.
Why'd you have to go and rain on my parade

I had no intention of raining on yours or anyone elses parade.
Just correcting inaccuracy in your post. Clowns cross breed easily according to experts. You should pick up "Clownfishes" by Joyce Wilkerson. It would give you a better understanding of clownfish and their breeding. I learned a lot form it. This is a journey I am enjoying, I am always open to learning where and when ever I can.
