We're right in the crosshairs

Saying it might hung Yucatan pretty tight, then only see limited development with the Gulf being colder this late in the year. Final dud to a subdued year...
Poor St. George though. One of my top places in FL, so beautiful, but gets rocked every so many years.

i hope it is a dud, but they still give it a 15% chance on being a hurricane...

Well shoot... 15% made it....
The overall outlook isn't much better either. Landfall as shifted West, eye looks to make landfall either in Baldwin Co. AL (our county, if you look close at coastal AL, we're the little nick on the right side of the bay) or Escambia Co. FL. Test fired the generator today, got gas in the cars. Moving stuff inside tomorrow, taking the Dish satellite down so it doesn't rip a hole in the roof, probably leaving DirecTV (mounted on a pole in the yard) so we have tv (hey they have commercial of the guy in a hurricane lol).
Saying strength of the storm will depend on how fast it moves. Maybe a Cat 1 at landfall, or if it slows, a Tropical Storm.

Hunker down and be careful. Hopefully it'll be nothing more than some high winds and a lot of rain. Be a good reason to stay home from work.

It was 70 degrees with zero chance of my house getting destroyed the past few days. The future cast says my house will still be here next June through November. Guess you gotta pay for warm weather

Drying out a bit from moving stuff in.....
Yea, I think the house shoud be fine. It's a woodframe on concrete slab, with a full brick exterior. I do miss the standard issue cinderblock South Florida homes though.... Concern is more about the stuff in storage, in the not terrific steel building...
We're about 30ft. above sea level, so no worries about surge, which is the big problem.

I wouldn't worry about it, it is just a really big thunderstorm. Unless you're living in a shack, or in a flood prone area.

+1.... I've been through enough of these storms to know that Tropical Storms are just big thunderstorms with names. They are no big deal. As long as it stays a weak cat 1 or below, it will be no big deal. What happened to that cold front that was supposed to rip it to shreds?

just talked to my sister in law. They are on St. George Island. They are getting knocked around pretty good. Huge wind gusts and the waves/surge are getting pretty strong. My bro in law took his truck and parked it up closer to the street (about 12 feet above) because the waves were getting pretty close. The driveway is about 6-8ft above sea level and he didn't want to take a chance.
Anyway, they said as of right now it is packing a punch where they are, but that is the lower right quad of this storm. Tomorrow and maybe Wednesday a wash also.
Brother, to think we were going to head down there Sun-Wed. SOoooooo glad we couldn't. (thats a first for me and any visit to the beach)

HAHAHA agreed. I'll take my house in one piece to warm 12 month beach weather any day.

No way. Fun fact, in America, on average in just single year, more people die from sip/fall accidents from ice, then in the last 30 years combine from deaths related to hurricanes.
Not bad at all so far, just some howling gusts. Rains been heavy off and on. Drainage ditch out front is a little full, and the low spot in the backyard is filled. Try to let the dogs out in a weaker period and all's I get is a "you've got to be kidding look."

I have to go back and check, but pretty sure this is my 9th or 10th named storm. The eye is still pretty well defined and projected to pass nearly or right over us, which would be my first time to see the eye of a storm, so hopefully it's during the day.

Yes, but I live on Long Island, we don't get crazy snow or ice. The ocean keeps us warmer than the rest of the state or surrounding states. It's the perfect place to live (minus the price of everything here!)

I guess this is bands from the same storm, but we are getting hammered today. It has been coming down in buckets ever since last night, and winds are ripping today.
