no skimmer. as long as you do proper water changes your good. for light try getting a simple daylight and actinic light. with those two your good. and will be able to keep softies and lps as well.

You won't need a skimmer, just keep up with regular water changes. For a 10 gallon I would get a ac30 filter used, take everything out of it and put chemi-pure and purigen into it. Also add a koralia nano for water circulation. You will also want a heater, 50 watt should work fine. Next up is picking a light, that you will have to research as I do not know the dimensions of your tank, so I can't recommend one. Then just add live rock, sand and of course salt water and let that bad boy cycle for a few weeks.

If it is 20 " long, then the sunpods would work. They do make a 70 watt version. I am sure there are cheaper alternatives, but this would allow you to keep anything you wanted. What's the budget looking like?

+1 how are we supposed to know how much it will cost if we don't know what you want. I take it that light is pc's with very low wattage?

if you can find some thing with more watts that would be better thats not very many watts at all....
okay well you need a filter
heater
power head
thermometer
live sand
live rock
salt
you can find all that stuff at petsmart if you just go to there web site you can get prices on all that stuff. you can get a good set pc light 50 watts or so for under a hundred i would say.

+1 that light probably would not even sustain softies. Take a look at some t5's they are on the cheaper side and will allow you to sustain and grow out corals. Also talk to rebelprettyboy, he has a very small tank and has some t5's on his, pretty sure it didn't break the bank either. The light you mentioned is generally used for 3 gallon pico tanks, fyi.

Don't waste your money. Just put the tank by a window and don't add corals to after you get a good light. No sense in spending money, knowing you are going to replace it in less than 2 months. Your fish don't need any special lighting, and while the live rock is cycling your tank you won't need any lighting either.
