20gal nano> thinking of using my Millenium 2000 HOB filter for a refugium. I have filter floss that is used for my Koi pond, sumps, wet dry filters. was going to add a piece of live rock to the HOB and some filter floss. the live rock has nothing growing on it really.
I don't plan to add anything else or a light on top of the HOB. would this idea work or benefit me at all?
What exactly is accomplished by adding live rock to a HOB filter?
need to figure out a way to keep the filter floss in the HOB since right now with just it,crushed coral and the biopad that comes with it. the filter floss wants to float out of the HOB. i know people do this with aquaclears hopefully someone has done the same with the Milleniums. thanks

Let me first start off by saying I think that your HOB filter should work just fine. I would suggest you smash up that rock a bit to make it fit better. I think this plan would only be beneficial if you were to get a small light to hang over the filter and maybe some chaeto or a little pod community. I can't find my own thread but if you look at posts I started I know i got great feed back from people when I had the same idea

Do you think your LFS would sell it? I woudl also consider maybe buying a tub of copods as long as the flow from your HOB filter isnt to strong. That would be a great place to let them mature and reproduce
