There is this great 12 gallon tank at my lfs that is a nano. I don't know what nano means, but the filter and lights are all appart of the tank. it is so awesome. What is the difference between nano, and my 46 bow, besides the size difference? i was thinking that I could maybe use it for a qt? it is alot nicer than the QT I have, and the proce is so right!!!!!
Thanks,
Sarah

Nano - means small - generally any tank under 30 gallons is considered a nano. Larger tanks are considered micro reefs.
I think you are talking about the 12 Gallon NanoCube tank. It would make a nice Q tank.
The big difference is the water volume, stability of the parememters, the challenges in stocking the tank .... imagine moving from your 46 gallon tank to a 246 gallon tank .... it is that in reverse....
Good luck and what is hte price on the nano cube in your area?

It was 99.99 with a subtrate, and 5lb of live rock. i will use it for a nice qt. My qt is so beat up, that it needs a replacement. Plus this nano had a much nicer filter on it then the qt that I have. All for what seems like such a good deal, or am I wrong about the good deal part?
thanks

most QT tanks don't use a substrate so I'd see about getting a discount for not using the substrate ... I'd also use PVC pipe pieces for the the hidey holes and not use LR.... see if you could get even more of a discount from there ....
That price is right around what they are charging aroudn me ...
