Thinking of getting a SWF tank going soon and im still thinkinng of wat tank to get.
12 or 24g nanocube
10g tank- only have tank ( no lights or anything)
24g tank - again only tank
Leaning towards nanocube because everything comes with it.

I like the idea of a nano tank however when u go smaller than 20g I believe your choices become limmited as to what u can keep. Im researching the 24gallon aquapod for myself, if u know where to look u can get one for under $200 and it comes with everything you need to get started. Just my 2 cents.

I have the 29g biocube and I really like it. Have done very minor filtration mods and added a split flow on my pump return along with a MaxiJet 900 PH, which most add for extra flow anyhow. Another reason is a lot of fish have a minumum of 30g that they should be put in. When you remove the bioballs and make that compartment like a sump the tank takes about a gallon more of water. Anyhow, most people always wish they went a little bigger than smaller, and there is quite a bit of difference with that 5g between the 24 and the 29.

youll probably end up wanting the 29. i really like my 10 and my 28, youll be really limited on what fish you can keep in a 10 though. especially with nano tanks because there's not that many fish that stay small and are colorful and compatible with each other. if you go with a 24 youll have less than in your display

if you have the tank only for a 24g tank--assuming its a jbj, theres a site that sells the JBJ 24g DX Canopy - 2005 version hood for 73.06
or the Current USA - Aquapod 24g - Canopy for $89.95
powerhead for the pump wouldnt cost that much. maybe like an mj1200 or mj900 for 20 or less.

also you might end up upgrading the stock lighting and adding more lights to the hood. there's another site where you can ship off your hood and theyll install it for you. you have to pay shipping bothways and for the light, buti think installation is free.

The stock aquapod comes with two 32watt PC lights inside an enclosed top I believe.

I have the same problem... I went out and bought a canopy after I caught my cat stalking my spotted grouper as she sat on my T5 warming herself
