Patrick held her own. I think most rookies would've gone into the wall with that spin she had. Her interview afterwards was aweful. She tried to give this 'play by play' of everything she did in the race. It'll be interesting how she does next Saturday with the 'bigger' boys. $100 says Kyle Busch spins her out trying to bump draft her or get around her.

Patrick is the second most over hyped figure in racing, right behind Jr. How appropriate she is driving for him

I will be interested to see how she could hold up in the longer races, these stock cars are nothing like those drive by wire indy cars. She's got the skills, just not sure she has the stamina.

Anybody got a clip/link to Patrick's spin? I heard them talking about it, but must have walked out of the room because I never saw it.

They said Tony Sr. was talking her through it the entire time. They even showed some video from inside the car when it was happening. You could see her yank the wheel to turn as far left as possible, then you saw her just let go of the wheel so it would straighten out on its own. She's just lucky she was slow enough when she hit the grass. Otherwise, she'd been bouncing and tumbling all over the place. If that had happened, she may have turned into Ricky Bobby, and would have major reservations come the next race.

The incident didn't look too dramatic, especially the grass, but at least she kept it out of the wall.
I didn't like all the broadcaster hype about her during the race, but I like her. Yeah, she's hot, but something different for a change. This sport needs that. Even more impressive IMO was that chick that ran 3rd a long time near the end. She was really holding her own. Except for that last bonehead move that thru her way back, she was racing tough.
Really torn on my picks for the opener. I know who runs well on super speedways, and I know who I like, but I dread burning up all my top drivers early in the season. This has come back to bite me before...
And Daytona is always a toss up.

Well the thing with ARCA cars, you can see which teams have a budget and which teams have the top-shelf stuff. Where as in Cup, you have 36 or so legitimate teams that can win it, ARCA has maybe 15.
Not to take anything away from Danica though. I was impressed, and god yea, the announcers were just laying it on waaay to thick. I was impressed with the car control, not only the slide, but in an Indy car, when it hops sideways like it did a couple during the race, you're in the wall hard. She was able to scoot the car up a line and save it.

Be a gutsy call throwing her into a plate race this soon considering her lack of experience and the unknown way the cars are going to perform with the changes they made. I wouldn't be surprised if they wait.

Another CALL here folks.... We still have room for more players. But after the opener, nobody else is coming in.
For those registered, we have until the 14th (Valentine's Day) to pick your drivers.
Good Luck all....

What is Jr. doing running in the Gatorade Duel? I thought he had second position locked for Sunday. They said he stayed in the Pit longer than anyone else to get the front and rear fenders banged out from all the bump drafting. If he tears this car up, won't he have to go to a backup car and start at the back of the pack on Sunday?

This isn't baseball where the home team doesn't bat when they're leading.

Practice...
Front & Rear fenders are as disposable to them as napkins are to us. But yes, they all run the risk of major damage and/or driver damage during this little escapade. Still, a necessary evil. They did mention how Martin backed off a little today. He realized the potential danger so didn't risk his starting position.

Because if he's car is garbage in the Duel, which it was, it's gonna to be worse in the 500. Drive the car, try and figure out the problem, wrench on it, and see if it helps. Free practice.

The car or the driver? If the car was garbage, how did he get the second spot for Sunday's race in the first place?

Qualifying wide open on your own, and running 200 mph in a draft with others, can show you many conflicting analysis of your car. As a matter of fact, most teams have one setup for qualifying, then totally redo the car before the start of a race.

As T pointed out, qualifying setups (trim) and race trim are quite different. You throw the amount of tape on the nose that these cars run for qualifying, or that amount of right front chamber, for a race and they'll all start running good
. Well till the motor or tire blows in 5 laps.
Not to take anything away from Jr. (my 2nd favorite behind Harvick), but if you were to throw all the engines from all 43 teams onto a dyno, I can guarantee you which 4 cars will be the top 4 in power (5, 24, 48, 88). To have a restrictor plate'd car punch it's own air instead of drafting on a super speedway, has a ton to do with the motor.

Guess it worked out for Johnson. He wrecks his primary car, and has to go to his backup. I'm assuming he would have to start in the back. Wins the first Duel by a nose, now is in the second row.
I think this race, you better be in either the very front, or the very back. Got a sneaking suspicion the guys in the middle won't last the entire race.

Anybody watch the Nationwide race today? Danica knocked out, Jr. upside down...it was a decent race

Looking forward to the 500 tomorrow.

Give the girl a few more races in a stock car and I think she would have missed that. The Jr wreck was crazy. I wouldn't have been smiling coming out of that.

It did look like she drove straight into it. I was wondering why her spotter didn't tell her to drop down
