Mine eats a variety:
Formula 1 & 2 pellets
Spectrum Pellets
Frozen Mysis
Angel Frozen Formula
Carnivore and Herbivore Pellets
Dried Nori Seaweed Soaked in Zoe and Selcon
As well as Spirulina flakes and raw shrimp pieces.
Is that enough variety for ya?

Now thats a diet I do not have access to all those items at the moment. I do have pellets, frozen myris , and I can get shrimp. More of a basics to start from.
But Thank you none the less I now know which way to go.
I am going to write all this stuff down as LFS got two today and I got them.
How often do you feed it/them?

Mine eats the same food, and on the same schedule as all the other tangs.....feed once a day. I alternate between frozen mysis, brine, and bloodworms. And (VERY IMPORTANT), I put in an algea sheet at least once a day, sometimes twice. I say "very important" because, although all tangs love it, my Naso gets overly excited about it. Sometimes he will back off of all the frozen stuff and just look at the glass, waiting on the algea sheet, as if he would prefer that.

Mine will eat anything that hits the water, including silverside chunks
, but agreed, he needs algae very often, at least once a day. Enriched nori/seaweed sheets is great, so's spirulina, and even live macro algae if you can find that. One of the best/easiest to feed is Ulva (lettuce algae), though mine will definitely eat chaeto and caulerpa, especially if you put it on his feeding clip
.

....good point, I forgot to mention to always put this on a drop-in clip. I have tried just throwing it in on occasion, but that won't work. Get an algea clip and give him a small sheet at least once a day.

if you cant get the spectrum pellets at your LFS omega one also makes a simular pellet now for all fish but the spectrum thera+A is the best i have found so far.small pellets is the best almost every fish will eat these and benefit from them.. as for the other foods mentioned above..most fish stores should carry most of them try to stick with omnivore diets but more so on herbivore <emerald entrese is also a very good herbivore food..oh also veggie flakes and kelp flakes by omega one..inexpensive and caried by most pet supply stores but good food
best way to know how much of what is best for each type of fish this.
herbivore 75% veggie based foods 25% meaty
omnivore 50% meaty 50% veggie
carnivore meaty foods
hope this helps
SWF.com also sells most of these products at reasonable prices.

I also feed once a day, and include one 4"x4" sheet of Nori on a clip as well.
I didn't have good luck with suction cup so I used mono fishing line and tied it up under my hood and drop it in.

Do you have a pic. My old tangs ate off the clip but this pair dose not want it, maybe they are still shy. I put a piece in before I went to work...maybe it will be gone by tonight, and there is some cheato in there aswell.

No picture. Just pull off the suction cup then tie a knot in some fishing line through the hole where the cup was. Next roll of 2' off the roll of line and cut it. Last step put a wood

[hr]
on the inside wall of your top wood canopy (if you have one) and tie the line around the

[hr]
so you just drop the clip down in the water and the line holds it to the roof of the tank.
This works for me anyway.

Well I have to say I still have not seen the tangs eat yet. I tryed brine, pellets, seaweed sheets and flakes.
You mentioned shrimp, like the ones in the frozen food section at the store. would cooked peeled shrimp work?
I asked the L.F.S. to call his suppler and ask them what they gave them before. hopefully I will get a quick resonse from them..

my nasos eat anything that falls in the water: pellets, mysis shrimp, blood worms, squid, brine shrimp, krill, silversides, baby clams, angel formula and lots of seaweed.

it may take a while for them to eat. my large one wouldnt eat seaweed for three days. and then got bolder and started eating meat a couple weeks later. my seaweed clips are the kind that are held to the front by a magnet and the clip is on a rod on the magnet. the fish like that so they can swim all around the food.

Try adding a little garlic too the food
. Usually when wild caught you need to try the mystis with garlic to get them started. Maybe rub some into a rock. If they go too long with out eating you may have to get some live clams from the fishmarket and put an opened one in
. Once they finally start eating then you should be good with the other stuff.
