The chemical is thowing money away. It is called chem clean and I think it sucks. I tried it because that's what the lfs said. My red slime would go away for a couple days and come right back. You need a powerhead moving water over the bottom of tank not just the top. I really do believe. As I said with chem came back but powerhead never seen it again.

they only knock thing over if the dig under them so the rock shoud be on the glass not top of the sand.

My diamond goby is about 7 inches long. It is always best to avoid adding chemicals to your tank. It does looks like diatoms and red slim developing. You might try to reangle your Powerheads or add a couple more. You want them to blow across your sand, not in to it. But to me it looks more like a flow problem.

Its all about the flow. Please don't use the chemical I could tell it did damage to my tank. Have to turn off skimmer for a couple days or it will run wet skimmet forever. I think it killed a couple fish to but can't be sure. I had just added them. Flow will work. Natural is better. Don't put anything in you can't test for. IMO

I had it in both my 55 and 75 gal tanks once it runs its course it seems to go away at least I no longer have it in my tanks I would sipone it out durring water changes and finnaly it went away once the pink purpel coraline began to grow real nice. So just be paitent do water changes and all should come along fine in a few more months

I am completely against chemicals btw, I just wanted to know what it was called so I could do some research....

It's called UltraLife Red Slime remover. So far my tank looks beautiful now.

By the way I am one dude against chemicals but this one surprised me.
I also did a water change and I love the way the tank looks. My sandbed is now back to clean. I will post picures later.
I say keep your water changes schedule and feed accordingly.
Oh by the way I just added a mandarine and ten blue leg crabs so the crabs cleaned up the remnant green algae growth that was under the slime. No one wanted to touch it before. And the mandarine loves to eat brine shrimp and copepods.

I have added 50 turbo's so far and nothing has changed.....
I have 100 nassarius coming on Tuesday, hopefully this will help out.
I also changed the way my powerheads are and that seems to be helping a little, but not curing the issue

Raise your alkalinity a bit and turn off the lights for a few days, except for a couple of hours to feed fish. If you have some NO lighting you can leave that on a bit longer. Corals should be ok with this for a few days.
Their is an extensive topic on cyanobacteria in the Archives.
