yes they move yes they can and do leave some behind BUT not always.
somtimes a shroom will detach from a rock in search of different conditions over crowding or both. in a good tank they can spread rather quickly.
small shrooms normaly just detach a part of the foot and a new one starts.
some will also split into two or i have ven seen one split into three.
