Ok so a couple of months ago one of the worst thing happend to my 75 gallon reef... I got Ich!
Well during everything I lost many fish (Gold Rim Tang, 2 Clowns, Yellow tang, Copperband, Lawnmower Blenny, and a Black Sailfin Blenny). Well two of my fish survived a Christmas Wrasse and a Golden Headed Sleeper Goby. During all of that I have set up a Twenty long Reef too. Well after alot of thought I have decided to set up a agressive Reef in the 75 and move my two lone survivors in the twenty long. Well I thought I'd ask and see your Ideas on a stock list for the 75. I know I want A Lion and possibly a eel just not sure on what kind. Well I hope I get some good Ideas started. Thanks.

Yea I used to have a Niger Trigger. Was thinking about getting another one or maybe some other type of Trigger.

+1 on the zebra eel, they are very docile and hardy but will eat most inverts. The only problem is that your 75 isn't a good permanent home for one. My last one outgrew my 120 in a little over a year,he went from 15" to 2 1/2 feet. Also are you sure that your fish had ich? How fast did your fish die? I've never lost that many fish at once to ich, could of been velvet...

It took about 2 to 3 weeks for them to die. I was going to do like hef. and hypo my whole tank but I didn't have anywhere to put my corals. So I tried the other small things to try to get rid of it. Nothing worked
. I had bought a gold rim that brought it in. Yea but about the eel. I was going to get a very small one if I dicided on it. Thanks for the ideas keep em comin.

yeah corals can make things quite complicated. If I got ich now in my 55 gal reef, I would have a huge problem - the fist would have to come out - and that definitely isn't easy!
and the zebra is anything but small. Like bioneck said, they are big and get bigger fast. And getting a small zebra is hard to find. I ordered mine off here and it was 2ft long already.
I would use the search option above and just put in "eel reef". I know there are many people on here with eels in their reefs. And many different types.

yeah, I actually got lucky. I ordered mine from here too and it is maybe a foot long. It's the smallest zebra eel I've ever seen.
Most eels won't bother corals but most will eat fish and inverts. You also have to look at your water quality. Most eels get pretty big, and therefore have a huge impact on your water quality, especially in a 75. And good water quality in a reef is essential.
How about a golden dwarf moray. They stay small and are reef safe. Only drawback is that they are expensive. Very pretty eel though...

First thing I'd is set up a QT, so you don't have to through this again. Very cheap insurance.
The only problem with that is eels don't show signs of ich but can still be a host for it. So even if you QT the eel by itself, it still may have ich. I know copper is almost out of the question. Do you know how they react to hypo? I've never tried it myself.

My zebra and snowflake eels are in hypo right now with the rest of my DT. The only thing I noticed is that the zebra was more reclusive for the first week or so. Now it's back out more. Eating fine the whole time.

OK I've been out for a while. So I went up to the LFS and one of my buddies is getting me a zebra that is between 12-18 inches. I also got a Lion ordered. OK for the QT I have a 20 long set up that is almost ready! As for the Golden Dwarf Moray... I don't think I have seen one of those before. When you say expensive how much do you mean? Well thanks for all the info keep it coming? Now lets get some ideas on the fish. My friend at the store also has like a 3" huma huma on the way too, not sure on it but I def. want another trigger any ideas? Thanks.

I def. wouldn't do a trigger with a lion. They are notorious for picking on them to death. I know blue throat triggers are a little tamer than most triggers but it WILL outgrow your tank. How many more fish do you plan on adding? Remember, you only have a 75g (not very big). Also, zebra eels get very big, I had to sell mine because it outgrew my 120 in less than a year and I got him at around a foot. As for a good fish, that's up to you. IMO almost all tang and triggers aren't gonna work. The only tang I would recommend would be a kole. As for triggers, you can take a chance with your lion but again, that's totally up to you.

Mixing triggers and lions seems like a natural combination; but, IME &IMO, it isn't. In the confines of a tank, the lion is a defenseless chew tow for almost all triggers. (and most puffers.)
