my calcium level is around 460, I just bought some kalkwasser mix, and am not sure how to add. I've mix 1/4 tsp to a gallon of DI water. should I add all at once? and how often do you add to mantain good calcium levels. I also have to add some salt when doing a tap off.
can I add this salt in with the gallon of water I've mixed up?

I lose salt thru the proteen skimmer. I tried not adding salt and my salt levels eventually went down way to low. so depending on where the salt level is I add salt as needed.

I don't understand that, salt does not evaporate so how are you loosing it throught the skimmer? Is the skimmer making a really wet foam and taking saltwater with it? instead of just the DOC's.
An no you never just dump kalkwasser in, with a pH of nearly 12 you would kill some things right away.

my salt level was at 1.025, over about 5 weeks it went to 1.022 not 100 % sure why but sometimes I skim heaver and thats the only way I know I could have lost salt. I have been raising the levels back up to were they need to be by adding salt water to the top off. once I get to the level I want I will quit adding salt until I see the levels dropping again.
Thanks for the advise on drippind Klakwasser. I will try and make some type of drip system.

I used a plastic container from the store, drilled a hole and added an airline tube and an old whisper air valve,..works great.

What do you test your specific gravity with?? I see no reason a tank should loose that much salt in 5 weeks even with really wet skimming??

And remember that temp has something to do with it as well.
