Need Advice on my Layout

This is a diagram I made displaying my plan for my tank, please feel free to post what you think, things I should change or do different, things that I did right, and overall what you think.

Im actually planning on adding a sump to my 28g reef when I move to a new house.

Looks good, just one question:
If you're drilling for the return pump, why not also drill and use an internal overflow?

Because I was Reading online that it can cause floods if the power is cut.. im going to have a one way valve on the return though so i guess it wont matter

Looks good to me...one thing to change perhaps is the chamber off of the refugium to the return...lift that baffle ike the bubble trap so water pours in and over then through the Chem-pure elite before going to the return, otherwise it just sits on the bottom and won't do much good. By maximizing the flow over it, you make good use of it.

Your return pump is at a constant, looking at your set up you must make sure when your filter sock gets dirty and slows the flow into your sump that you don’t run the chamber your return pump is in dry
also in agreement with drilling for an internal overflow box

i wouldnt use a sock.it will trap pods that are in the tank.no need for a one way valve as long as when the power goes out the sump has some extra room for the dt water.
on a 29 gallon dt i would think around a gallon or two would be about it.

Depends on where he drills his return I would go with Loc-Line Ball Socket Flexible Tubing coming out of the bulkhead and drill a syphon brake

thats how my tank is set up.overflow and the ball socket tube return.i have no issues

mantis is doing great.no problems .i still get a piece of silverside or whatever i have and put it where she isnt.it will land on a rock and she finds it pretty fast everytime.its neat how she know something is in there.

An internal overflow is much safer than an external when it comes to flooding. That being said: If either are set up properly, neither should ever flood.

Internal overflow is much more safer than an external setup in terms of protection from flooding. Just design it with a siphon break and you are good to go.
