Ok I posted this a while back but my ph is 8.0 alk is 3.5 (mEq/l) and I was told it was ok and it will rise and fall depending on the time of day. Well from what I have seen it dont matter what time of day it is I get the same reading everytime. Now I am not to worried about it for the tank is a fowlr but it is deffently going to be a reef once it is established. And so far everything is doing well. My question is I know the ph has to be 8.2 how can I get it there without doseing my tank and messing whith my other params??? Also how is the alk where is that supposed to be.

8 is acceptable, but I prefer 8.3 personally. I like my alk between 12-14dKH.

thats where I want my ph to be. as far as alk is there a coversion from what my test kit is giving me and what you mentioned. Also why is it not changing at all not even a little bit. I even had the lfs test it to make sure I was doing it right. But they got the same thing and of course tried to sell me stuff. I didnt buy it there has to be a better way than what they have.

I think 14dKH is 5meq/L. I use google to convert between them hahaha.
If you set up a kalk drip system or have two dosing pumps to meter "randy's 2 part new formula" that will help with keeping the pH stable.. also running the fuge light cycle reverse the display tank light cycle helps will stability too.. high oxygenation of the water also keeps the pH up.
definitely look up the randy's 2 part, its a very cheap way to dose 2 part and keep a tank very stable.
